Getting on a bit

I asked my mate who does the mots up my mate garage about this and he said that you dont have to wait the full 6 months if you have been given that extension, if this is over in say 3 months and your chosen garage has re opened you can book your car in then and if it passes your mot date will start from the date it passes, you may feel happier doing it that way as you know your car is up too standard

If I felt my car was up to standard I would push my MOT on to the maximum 6 month extension, or whatever it might turn out to be and, worry about the matter of a fail at that time. Just a personal view. Bob ![]() |

Hi all and hope you and yours are keeping well in these difficult times.
Has anyone actually had their MoT date extended yet? The first one in the family fleet is my wife's Yaris due 27th April. I have checked DVLA website and they are still showing the April date. Other advise on the site says the extension will be applied typically the day before the test expires which is cutting it a bit fine. Cheers, LeeP |

As Nutco and Dave said the wife's Yaris MoT was extended by 6 months last week - a week before expiry so the system works. Be interested to see how long the extensions go on for as the 940 isn't due till Dec but the XJS is due in June.
Cheers, LeeP |

Garages are still doing MOT Tests might be a good idea to find one which is open as it will be impossible to get an appointment later in the year.

nothing changes though the mot is only an indication of the vehicle health at the time of testing not for the following weeks and months its still upto the owner to keep it roadworthy for the other 364 days of the year

well that goes without saying , that is what servicing is for and you have responsibilities regarding tyres oil level etc .
