My C70 is £675 also, but has been re-registered in the disabled tax class, which is handy. Not so handy for the missus who had to become disabled in order to qualify for it, mind.
No it shouldn't be - if your C70 is registered pre March 2006 it's £395 !

See this : https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-...r-1-march-2001

And this foot note for band K :

*Includes cars with a CO2 figure over 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006

Yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes it takes a nudge like that just to prompt a change.

25th MArch 2005. Its band L, not K, 261 carbons, and 675 quid.

That footnote is a puzzler. I'll look into that, cheers, not that it matters.

Your car is band L (strangely the 2.4LPT is dirtier than the full fat T5). But any car above band K that was first registered prior to 23/3/2006 has VED capped at £395.

If you pop your registration number into Total Car Check or similar, it should tell you... my 2003 T5 is £395 in spite of it's 236 carbons and also being band L.

I appreciate you don't have the problem either way, but I wouldn't want to see someone else put off from buying, saving and enjoying these cars by an obscene thiefdom rate of VED.

As you know guys I parted with my much loved (and still missed) MY08 XC90 SE LUX last year because I disagreed with the new Ved rate of £675 for a 15 year old car and decided that I was not happy to pay that.
I see this year that has now moved to £710.00 and just wondered if because of that it has caused any of you guys to say enough is enough and move on.

My Ved on the Cat has moved to £255.00 from £240.00 which whilst a Micky take is a more palatable adjustment than you poor guys....I really do feel for you.....

I have no regrets moving to my big cat and it's been great over the past year just this week having had its first MOT under my ownership....it failed on a rear suspension arm ball joint (wrecked by the bloody potholes around here I don't doubt)which was replaced and sailed through so the MOT.... SERVICE and part with labour cost me £444.00.....im happy.

The one thing I do miss most from the XC90 though is the superior commanding high up view from the drivers position.

I am tempted by an equivalent spec F Pace in 3ltr S spec but they don't seem to have the toys of the xfs sportbrake....but something to think about for the Autumn me thinks.

I went from a £700 a year tax jag to my 2005 xc90. The jags ride lovely but the xc90 wins out for me. Plus we need at least 6 seats.

Had a brown envelope from DVLA this morning
Opened it fearing it was a speeding ticket .....
Even worse
It was my Tax Reminder for £710
2007 D5 2.4 which my "friendly" Volvo Service Manager tuned to 2008/EU whatever spec but DVLA go off the original registration
Taking the **** really when you weigh up the scrappage of how many vehicles in mine's 17 year life so far, and WTF are they going to do with all the batteries and the tyres that electirc cars scrub

This is how the Government will get the old cars off the road… increased road tax. The reaction from most more often than not is admitting they aren’t paying £710 a year to keep that old car on the road, so they get rid and get a newer vehicle with cheaper road tax (lower emissions). Then that vehicle they sold ends up on a forecourt for sale with minimal interest because of the £710 road tax. Someone will buy it, but they won’t keep it long because the road tax will keep going up and up. Eventually very few will want these vehicles because of the road tax and they’ll end up in a scrap heap or exported to countries that aren’t as invested in the “green agenda”.

Its sad, but its just reality.

I’m all for the green agenda. We have to be cleaner and burning stuff is unnecessary. That being said it needs to be a measured response that encourages new products to toe the line.

Taxing older products with crazy road tax and ulez etc isn’t ok as it mainly penalises poorer who can’t afford new. Besides the bulk of the burden from manufacturing the car has already taken place and they will soon disappear as all older products/cars do.
