i bought a relay on ebay for a tenner but the wiring behind the instrument panel isnt there for the connector to the front fog relay. however there is wiring behind the bumper blanking plates... am i missing something or just not seeing it??

Did you car come with fog lamps, or are you fitting them as an extra?

I want to fit them as an extra, i have the lampsm switch and the relay, found where they all plug in apart from the relay. maybe mine doesnt have the wiring harness behind the dash?

That is what I was also thinking and that is why i posted the wiring diagram. Maybe another member here who has had a similar car to yours might be able to help a bit more. The earliest S40 I had was a 1999 so it was a bit different. Try to follow the wiring and see if it is tucked in anywhere else

Not on the oldies. It needs relay thats behind the clocks changed for a front and rear type. Easy job, harness is already there as wiring loom is shared between options, they just add equipment for different trim levels. On new shape s40/v50 you need software download, all the wires, relays and so on are there when the car leaves the factory.

On my 96 there is a relay behind the instruments for the rear fogs but the front fogs has 2 relays, there isnt a wireing connector there for the front fogs that i could see, i will have another look but im pretty sure there is nothing else coming off along that section of the harness!
