Cheers for the input fellas, I've checked all pipe work and joints for leaks and have found nothing wrong,
It has been sluggish up to 1500rpm and then take off like a rocket as if it's building up pressure or turbo lag.
Tonight though whilst nipping out I got about a 100yrds from the house and there was a very large pop and power gone, it still runs and got me home, turbo werrs away, think a pipe has either split or come off after the turbo, will open the bonnet tomorrow and have a look, hopefully nothing to expensive but hopefully might point me to the root of my troubles

Bottom elbow blown appart around the neck, seems the plastic has gone brittle, there is a split along the top that looks like it's been there for a while, this might have been part of my troubles.

yes cheap , ford did that after getting rid of the high quality everlasting silicon turbo air outlet hose on the earlier D5 . They started using alloy pipe after about 2007 ...

Right fitted a replacement with some fancy 'blue' coloured hose from the local tuning firm, instant improvement over before, no smoke, tick overs much smoother and touch wood the dpf fault has yet to reappear,
Hopefully it's the end of my woes,

Cheers for the input fellas and will keep you posted if the fault reappears

Car seems improved and havnt had any dpf issues, but on rechecking the hose after a drive to make sure all is ok, I've noticed that the hoses from the turbo are all getting very very hot, is this normal or are exhaust gasses getting through the turbo on to the inlet side?

compressed air gets very hot hence that is why you have an intercooler ! Charles law from physics -
