RE: Buying a used S40 T4 :o)
I bought my v40 for 5800notes 64,000 miles w reg
black obviously, seriously enjoyable to drive, so funny leaving petrol heads behind the only down side is you cant see the expression on there faces :( :7 had a close run with a bolshi laguna estate the other day,he just wouldnt give up, but 3rd gear saw him off keep your revs above 3000 and you'll be laughing, i mean literally no mods, will get a pannel later, but thats prolly it....... :+ |

HI
80k service including cambelt and tensioner, panel filter if wanted etc.Genuine parts and proper qualified volvo master technicians {instead of people who just think they are}.All work warranteed at any main agent as we have full volvo approval. £380 allin cheaper if you dont require panel filter. All parts always instock. Hope this is of interest PS just bought the wife a 2000 t4 its next on the list for big power proper tuning. Thanks Stuart |

RE: Buying a used S40 T4 :o)
Just had a look at your website - shame your in Kent (I'm in Bath so not very convenient for me unfortunately...) - will definitely need to find a good local independant dealer if I get the T4 I want to get a T4 because it seems to have a pretty good combination of performance/economy/value - Impreza turbos are too thirsty and ugly(in my opinion), BMW 330's and audi TT's too expensive etc... I've got a 100 mile commute into work every day (Bath to Dorset) - there are some great roads but they are often spoilt by HGV's, tractors, old people in metros etc - so I want something with as much power as possible for overtaking :) and hopefully half decent fuel economy. (Think a T4 should do about 30mpg?) I Was thinking about getting a diesel like a Golf TDi 150 PD but had a VW touran 1.9TDi hire car for 2 weeks and wasnt to impressed - felt a bit like a Transit. Would be interested in trying an S60D5 though. |

HEHE, i'll pass you going the other way....
i commute from dorset to melksham, so will be carving thru' the same filthy hgv's & dribblers on that run i get 32.4 if i dont do much overtaking, if i do then 30.2 seems the norm (ron98) get around 28 on short runs around town etc so all in all not bad. |

A mechanical boost controller stops the wastegate from releasing the boost until it has built up to a set amount. normally your car is set at 13psi, and once the ecu senses that pressure it will go no higher. the boost controller takes over the job. up to a certain level, more boost will equal more power :)
only problem is, the ecu doesn't really approve of it, and although it's faster, the car would be a whole lot more efficient if it had already had a remap. the reason it never did was because an MBC=£40 and a remap = £380-580 from the tuners i was interested in! if you do ever get one and modify it, get a sports cat as well as your cat back, it will help to free the car's breathing up a lot more ;) jacq. |

Ok... if I see a Black T4 estate going up the A37 I'll wave! :D
(I'm in a silver vectra at the moment, I'm sure you only pass about 6 million of them every day, lol...) 30-32mpg sounds fine, thats about what I get at the moment if I drive hard. Only got 41 mpg out of the Touran TDi in fact - I thought it would do better than that, suppose it is a 7 seater mpv thing though. I'd certainly get a sports cat if the original one needed replacing... I'd have thought they must be pretty expensive given the cost of a standard cat though? :9 |

can be, some american sites sell them for around £100, then there are the dearer ones at 300 plus...no way! as long as it will get rid of a check engine light and pass emissions, then it's good enough for me!

Ok :)
I'm usually heading down the A37 7-7:30am and up it 16:45-17:15 Good luck with your MOT by the way! Checked my front tyre treads the other day - they are over 50% worn after just 4000 miles :o ooops.... hate to think what it'll be like on a T4 ;) |

Got it!!!
finally... after months of searching, found a good sensibly priced one at the carshop northampton, went to look at it last friday and drove it away the same day. Its a 52 reg 46k miles 2002 2.0 T4 sport lux in atlantic blue metallic with cream/beige (arena?) leather interior, one company owner with FVSH. So far I'm delighted with it, smooth, comfortable and the performance is fantastic - severe wheelspin in 2nd and sometimes in 3rd, in the wet at least :-) hehe. And its averaged 33mpg on the first tankful (of BP ultimate), have just filled up again with optimax this time. Havent really had a chance to drive it hard yet due to the icy/snowy/greasy conditions but never mind. Only slight fault is the DSA warning light has stayed on a couple of times, but goes out the next time the car is started. but overall very happy :o) |
