It's not that simple, or cheap... You'll need a new surround to match, and the existing system has to be removed and bypassed using some optic fibre modules, otherwise parts of the car will shut down, as the MOST system used by Volvo has inbuilt security that cannot be turned off.

I suggest you get a full breakdown of the parts and cost for them before letting one of their monkeys near your car... This is a job for a specialist, not an amateur...

What year is your car?
Best regards
Mine is a 2007 so I'm positive this will definitely work in all xc90 models from 2007 through to 2014. My audio guy said it would work in any xc90, even the earlier ones.

Mike I agree that the price others have been quoted do seem far to cheap compared with what I payed. I decided to use a tried and tested company who specialise in these systems. By the way, the double din surround alone is about £50 and the rear parking camera I have is made by Alpine and high quality images at nighttime as well as during the day... Another £250. The whole thing installed was £1000 due to all the necessary components and expertise required to install.
Once the system is installed I promise those considering this option will wish they'd installed it when they first brought the car BUT it must be done properly. It's the best upgrade I've done on the car.

Would you mind telling me where you went in Surrey as I'm considering calling them for a chat about it... I'm in Wimbledon so not far!

These are the guys I used.

They will talk you through all the options and will need your car for the whole day for the installation.

I would also HIGHLY recommend TURNERS in Croydon as they are even more experienced but were too busy to do mine at the time. A brilliant car audio specialist founded over 30 years ago.

If possible I'd use TURNERS as you have the extra piece of mind. Also their customer service is excellent, and being a family run business they really do care about your satisfaction.

They will need your car for a whole day.

Alan

Perhaps I should start I sticky thread on this as so many people have asked me about this media upgrade in different threads. However I have no idea how to start a sticky thread.

I believe they altered the setup from 05 onwards, early ones are tricky to add in aftermarket options for head units and Bluetooth connectivity.

It's a Pioneer DA120 Apple CarPlay. In my original post ^^^ there's the web link and further details. In other posts here I also mention how selling my Amp and the upper centre console section (to fit the double din) made £400 and I used that money to contribute towards the overal cost of this system. So ultimately the entire system cost me about £600 rather than £1000. By the way those OEM components sold on eBay within 7 days.

Hope this helps.

One day when I work out how to do it I'll try and set up a sticky thread as so many people have asked about this. In fact, twice I've come out of supermarkets and walked back to my car to find other xc90 owners standing by my car to ask how and where I fitted that system.

All of the screens a fully customisable. The screen image shown in my signature below is displayed whenever I turn on the ignition "Welcome Alan". I produced this image and customised it using photoshop than just uploaded it to the system via USB (the system comes with a USB port which I've had installed in my glovebox). So if you do forget your phone and want to listen to music you can either use the devices Radio (digital DAB radio is played when phone connected) or play music via the USB. Obvioisly once your phone is connected the system will play tracks off your phone and it's sorted in genre, playlists, albums, artists, songs etc.

The real star of this system though is the satnav. It's work brilliantly and blows away my integrated Volvo satnav (original satnav is now redundant and power removed).
