Default P2, pre '08 D5s.

If the OP has a pre '08 'P2' D5 then I can offer MTE's premium Swedish written software for his car that he can install himself without resorting to travelling. £395 including VAT.

Along with ALL my competitors I cannot offer calibrations for the current shape cars without having it with me for some hours to effect the installation.

All the current cars have Volvo's balefull and illegal Pincode system installed that prevents all but their dealers from selling the somewhat humdrum polestar calibrations , and installing same through the OBD port.

PINCODE BANDITRY rules!

Don.

If you go on the Polestar website you should be able to use your VIN number to identify what Optimisation is available to you.

I have booked my D4 181 for the upgrade and just waiting for the dealer to give me a date - bit snowed under with it being the new reg time of year. I managed to get them down to £700 but they won't budge from there - can't wait

If you've got the 8spd automatic you'll also get that Optimised too. Be interesting to see what difference that makes as well.

Also on the website its says my car is 163bhp but when i asked the volvo dealship when i got it, they said mine is 175bhp..??????
I have a V70 175ps, and can confirm the differences to the 163ps:

- The rear badge on the car is '2.4', whereas on the 163 cars i viewed the badge is 'D5'

- The engine dipstick is tiny and hard to find, the 163 i looked at has a traditional larger dipstick and is V easy to find

- the 175 engine is a 2010 model and my car is a 59 plate. The 163 model preceded it so would be on an older reg plate.

- when checking my reg plate on mycarcheck it mentions my bhp

If this isnt conclusive, I could take a pic of my engine and show you? The 163 and 175 engines look completely different when opening the bonnet

If it's a 163 it'll be at the front of the engine cover in a recess towards the left a bit as you look into the bay, orange handle If it's a 175 it doesn't have one as such, it's a service dipstick and I don't know how you use those thingys
