Is there any way to turn that off? I prefer to control the set speed myself.
It does that only if you enable "Automatic Speed Limiter"

You can have adaptive cruise with speed sign adaption or without. It is your choice. There is a tile for it on the main screen. I think it has a kind of lollipop symbol - probably meant to look like a sign on a post...

I thought that it was only Speed Limiter that automatically changed your speed, I wasn't aware you could have this feature enabled with Adaptive Cruise?

At the end of my lane it is 30 and turning onto the main road there is a forty limit. Up until the update [haven't checked since] the Volvo kept indicating a 30 limit through the village until it saw a 40 sign.
The Qashqai changes to 40 at the junction, so one must assume that the Qashqai makes better use of the map. I'll check later whether this has changed, but I do know that Qashqai has HereWego maps, because it is they that sell updates. 'Sell' mind you! Not provide free as part of the service like Volvo.

Pulling out of my drive it sometimes says I'm in a 20 zone when in fact it's 30 and there isn't a 20 zone anywhere in the village. On the motorway it always correctly identifies 40 and NSL on the overhead matrix signs; it's only 50 and 60 that confuse it.

I seem to remember reading that camera recognition takes preference over the map data but I guess it's actually quite difficult to get the balance right. Nevertheless, I'd expect the camera system to distinguish between 50 and 60 (as it used to do).

What does it indicate when you drive back along the same road and into your driveway?

Driving to local Recycling Centre, I thought the RSR would get totally confused, but no - 60 mph, 10mph, 5mph into centre and then 10mph and back to 60mph, with no problems.
Would be interested to know what your car would indicate?

It says 30 all the way through the village and onto my drive. I've looked to see if there's another sign that's confusing it when I leave the drive but there's nothing nearby. If the map data was wrong, for example, you'd expect it to display the wrong speed all the time in the absence of anything to the contrary. I don't recall it finding the 5 mph sign going into our local recycling centre but I'll make a point of checking next time. However it does normally pick up the 5 mph sign in a multi-storey I use.

Actually, thinking about it some more, the satnav often puts me 1 or 2 roads away from my actual location after I'm parked on the drive. Both roads are dead ends but I wonder if there's a 20 limit near the end of the far away one. I'll need to walk down and have a look.

Something very odd with your Sat Nav, if it has you parked in a different location to your house.
My home destination is a parking area away from my house.
I just input the house number, opposite to where I normally park and it is spot on every time.

The only time that I have had the location out, is just after updating the maps, but only by a few yards.
As soon as I drive off, it corrects itself.

Yes, it's weird. If I approach the village from the east (my normal route) it puts me up to 75m away from my house but if I approach from the west it gets it spot on. I always reverse onto my drive and I think the car's inertial guidance gets confused when reversing after coming from the east. It makes no sense really but it is consistent.

I've had satnav in cars for nearly 20 years and this is the first one that gets it wrong so often.

Strange, mine has always been impressively accurate. So if you park from the east and your nav shows you in the wrong location, does the VoC app also show you in the wrong location or is it accurate?
