There are lots of videos on youtube of the Getrag DCT450 and similar being dismantled and rebuilt. There is even the Getrag service manual available if you dig deep enough. Spare parts are coming down in price with solenoids and other parts no available from China if you trust them. The gearboxes have their problems and are time consuming and expensive to fix. I have one and I am planning on removing and cleaning the mechatronic block which can cure lots of problems due to metal swarf swilling about. Below is part one of a mechatonics clean on the DCT450.

Gearbox fluid and filter change completed and pleased to report that the issue is now gone and also the vehicle pickup from a standing start is also significantly improved from what it was, so IMHO the fluid was not in great shape/was at a low level.

Work was carried out by A R Mills in Middleton Cheney - they said that in their opinion the fluid hadn't been changed up to that point (73k miles) and that it should be done every 3 years or 37.5k miles.

As the rest of the car is in great shape I'm loathed to get rid of it for something else that could have other problems in different areas, so will monitor it for the next few months and go from there.

Appreciate all the info to this point - A R Mills would also get my recommendation as well for their knowledge and customer service.

So pleased to hear that the issue is fixed. How much do that work set you back?
