I think you could have got a white one for nothing yesterday evening - slid off the A4146 in to a ditch........

Mo, I'm sure you said in Coventry you didn't know much about these 'older' Volvos, before you know it you'll be buying a 240 glt.

Woke up too early today after doping a nightshift...couldnt get back to sleep so i thuogh i may aswell clean Rosie's engine bay..damn rain wouldnt stop regardless i carried on turned out quite nice the engine now compared to what it was
before

theres one thing i noticed had or did have a whole load of oily sludge..can anyone tell me what this thing is please? and how important is it?
its a rubber tube leading from the black plastic over engine to a place just next to spark plugs
pictures are now attached for after pics and theres pic of mystery thingy

Hi Mo, nice car - congratulations! My first Volvo was a J reg 440. I bought it with brand new alloys and tyres at about 55,000 miles. I part-exchanged her with 100.000 miles and I was sad to see her go. My old 440 had the 1700 Renault engine with a carb.

Hi Mo, where does the hose lead to? It looks like it comes from the top of the engine.

Hi Iain it joins onto the black bit that connects the engine to the air filter thing..its on the 2nd picture the whole area is shown ..
