I think their is only 1 volvo dealer left in Northern Ireland.
Postage to Northern ireland kills the price of most.
Their website must be wrong.

Your 2010 XC90 definitely uses JWS3309 transmission fluid & that’s what your manual says.

If Liqui Moly is your only option, then use the one that meets JWS3309 spec.

If the poster of this thread has a manual that says the transmission requires JWS3309, then that’s what I’d use. Or, check with the Volvo dealership to be 100% certain. Based on what the original poster said, I think this is a pre-2012 XC90 (no mention of the year of the vehicle in question anywhere in this thread).

The newer spec fluid is more expensive. There’s no point buying it just for the sake of it, especially if its the older/cheaper fluid that’s actually required.

*To the original poster, just a kind reminder to make sure you put the year of the vehicle in question when posting.
I quite agree that the handbook should be checked and the spec taken form there.

Try Opie oils as they do stock transmission fluids and are good.

I found a local mannol dealer but they can't work out what oil to give me either. I've tried searching on Internet but I want to 100 percent sure. Is the mannol code 8218?

I rang Mannol and they gave the reference MN8218.

I hope that's right as I've just used it, so far so good.

It's gone up in price on ebay but this is what I bought Mannol 8218 - 20 litre

Thanks. I never priced the 20 litres but the 5 litre was £30 and the 10 litre was £65. And no postage as I can lift it so it shouldn't be too bad.

I used smith Allen JSW3309 1n my 2012 xc90 design made a massive difference.
I done the drain and fill method and used 10 litre have done about 300 miles since I done it and plan to do another 10 litres soon as due to the millage I am doing a sympathetic oil change ( didn't know it was a thing until one of the old engineers at my work called it that )
after the next change I will have to get the reset done but can't find anyone local with vida.
anyone in fife with vida give me a shout

on another note my daughter is joining the Volvo sect as she's just bought a 2007 s40 2.0sport with 77k on it
the Volvo family is getting a bit bigger

Even if it's gone up, with the current eBay discount code, it's £65 which is an excellent delivered price.

£77.40 to Northern Ireland with the discount. But still cheaper.

Shouldn’t it take JWS3324 or AW-1 being a 2012 plate XC90?

That’s the right fluid.
