Not me. I said if it didnt sell after the 3 days and he was going to scrap it then I'd save it out of principle of not seeing it get destroyed.

He had someone go look at it last night and it was ended this morning so I guess its been sold. Who knows what is fate is though. Parts or banger msot likely

ok ok, I own up, I bought it. Seems fairly solid (but then I don't know my 244s well yet). Had plenty of Volvos to date .... 360GL, 740GL saloon, 740 GL estate, 850 T5 estate, V70 2.4 petrol and my current wagon is a V70 D5 but wanted to have a final fling with my strobe light, dwell angle meter and ColorTune thingie.

First assessment of the 244 (she's already got a name Viv the Volvo) just to bring it to the next level from 'rough around the edges' is ....
- new doors
- redo the poor sill repairs / new sills?
- spare wheel wells/lower rear quarters sorting (rear lights panel is a goodun)
- decent wheels - just got steel on at the mo (if you know of anyone selling any alloys let me know)
- respray ... its a goldie yellow/mustardy colour (anyone point me in the direction of a colour chart)
- interior is good but drivers seat foam seems very thin (can feel the heating element)

Can someone educate me on the front grill being rare?

Cheers
Rob

Glad it didn't get banger raced. I was so tempted to go and view it to save it from a horrible fate of banger racing or being used for parts.

The front grill is super rare. Its on the crossover between the big late style headlights but still with the early flat front bonnet. Often referred to as the "Group A" grill as it was the setup Volvo used on their race cars.

I had to source the one on my car from Australia as I simply couldn't find one in the UK. They aren't very common at all. Don't let go of it.

At last!! Somebody has owned up!. Can`t help you much with your queries i`m afraid as my colour chart is dated 1984 and your lovely yellow had obviously been discontinued by then but i`m sure someone here will be able to help. I`m glad the car has been saved and wish you luck with the project. I work a lot in the Chester area so will keep an eye out for you ( not that you could be missed really! ). Regards Dave
