Update: chelle_belle is now EXTREMELY generously sending me gaiter and collar free of charge!!! Very generous indeed Thank you.

With any luck this will finally kill this thread with all its tragically pathetic schoolboy humour. I must say I'm really looking forward to slipping the new one on to my stick and so long as it fits a bit tighter it should cure my floppy knob issues and with any luck the new bit will fit snugly right into the bottom. And if it gives me a bit more poke, all to the good.

I feel let down because people normally pay for my advice and always look to help people out. I hope your knob breaks for real mister because I wont be here next time to put it straight for you

Ahem - getting wood was not the problem. That came quickly and easily I'll have you know. It's the fitting I have trouble with - my existing girth just seems to be too great.

I've just laid my wood out on the kitchen table for the time being. I understand that the remedy is to be posted on Monday, and doubtless I'll be taking a closer look at my shaft then. Watch this space.

Not serious? Picture it: I've got a new one lying there in the kitchen basically begging for me to slide it on to the old rod but I can't do anything till I get a new piece. The old one is still looking as grey and depressing as ever and since I gave it a squeeze in a G-clamp last week to get it off it just slops loosely around on my stick. Whaddaya mean not serious?
