RE: Auto-dimming rearview mirror
As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, it turns out the mirror sensitivity can be adjusted through VADIS, though "not by much".
My car goes to the dealer on Friday to have the job done, so I'll keep you posted. (Beats me why they couldn't just have a switch on the mirror; low/med/high or something). Cheers, Steve |

RE: Auto-dimming rearview mirror
Well, I'm £78 quid lighter (OUCH!) but following a test-drive this evening, I can report that my rearview mirror is now usable in the dark.
What a rip off, though. The invoice quotes one software download from VADIS, and 0.6 hours labour to make the adjustment. It would have been cheaper to buy a replacement 'manual' mirror from Halfords. Have Volvos always been this expensive to run? Cheers, Steve |

RE: Auto-dimming rearview mirror
I really can't get on with all the software-based "repairs" that current Volvos must have - as a way to lock you into the dealer network it is effective, but at the cost of losing a Volvo owner.
I certainly won't be buying a "new" Volvo when my current car goes to the great scrapyard in the sky, though whatever I get will probably have the same dealer-orientated servicing requirements. |
