It's all a bit confusing! Having thought I'd found the source of the problem by pulling the large fuse number 3 in the main fuse box that seemed to suggest it was horn, starter solenoid or air pump, today I've had a look at the other fuse box behind the air filter inside the engine bay and started pulling the fuses there to see if it dropped the amps leaking from the battery.
Well, it now looks like it's fuse 6 that supplies the Gearbox control module that is causing the problems. That would explain the constant pitched hum that seems to be coming from the N/S of the gearbox sump when ignition is off. The hum stops when you pull the fuse. My guess is that the next step would be to check and see if the corresponding relay is faulty and therefore leaving power on to something when ignition is off before replacing the module itself. I believe that the gearbox control module is located behind a panel to the right of the steering column (UK RHD car) but having trawled the NET I still have no clue as to where its solenoid might be located. Anyone got any clues? Can anyone confirm my course of action? Any help greatly appreciated. |

Sorry, I mentioned in the previous paragraph the other fuse box behind the air filter inside the engine bay but not an obvious link.

I'd also look at trying to find out if you can unplug whatever is humming and see if that gets rid of the current drain, if so then investigate further.

It actively pumps air into the exhaust to help with emissions for around 30 seconds after starting. Cheers
