It sounds amazing though!

Once the wages come in on Thursday I'm going to order the full kit from liquidleather and get scrubbing.

What's the best carpet shampoo to use?
You can get different smells and all sorts.

I would recommend the one i have linked below as it also kills anti bacteria and leaves a pleasent citrus smell.

I'm loving this forum, so many helpers and good ideas, thanks ever so much!

So, the plan is to clean all the leather, then the carpet, then use the bomb. I reckon the car will be good as new after.

There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day at the moment!

My car was also filthy when I got it, I removed all the carpets that I could get out of the car (including the wooden carpet-covered panels in the estate boot) and put them in the bath and scrubbed them. So much carp came out that I had to change the water several times!

I dried them off by vacuuming with a wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner.

The carpets that I could not remove got cleaned with several lots of soapy water and a scrubbing brush, and again were dried out using the wet vac. While I was in there with a bucket of soapy water I cleaned all the vinyl surfaces too.

Worked a treat!

Cheers

I found that soaking the floor mats in the bath overnight in a solution of bio laundry detergent and warm water, then taking them to the local jet wash, and just using the power jet (not shampoo or wax) setting , did a very good job.

I tend to pull the carpets out and hire one of the carpet cleaners from B&Q etc - costs around £20 and gives a really good result.

A bit more expensive than the suggestions above, but you can clean them a couple of times over with the power cleaner compared to doing it manually with a scrubbing brush. It will probably take a few cycles of cleaning before you're happy with them, the first clean will remove the worst of the dirt but will leave the more stubborn stuff, so it looks more patchy than before you started! Give it another go or two and then you'll be satisfied

Well I still haven't had time to get scrubbing.

However I have the weekend off, so the fun shall begin!
I can't wait... my cleaning OCD urge is killing me!

Hello

I would be interested to know what you do/did about the headlining and plastic trim around the roof.

After 13 years and 199k miles, my headlining is looking scruffy. Just had to replace a courtesy lamp in the grab handle, and the new plastic shows up the grime in the original fittings.

Steamers are usually good for the headliners, however you do have to be careful not to scrub them too hard or get them too wet so they sag.
