You can only put about 70KG in a roof box.
A trailer to cary 70Kg would be undetectable in terms of MPG, the roofbox however significantly affects AeroDynamics. My old trailer was another matter... It was 6M from drawbar to tailboard and ~700KG unladen . Super to tow though and easy to reverse. TT |

Last summer I saw a chap driving his family to their summer holiday with a trailer with a roof box on it! This of course left lots of room for the bikes to go on a rack on the roof! I was impressed!

Trailer ... Can't put the boats on the roof unfortunately!
Easy enough to tow, easy enough to reverse - practice makes perfect after all!! |

I'm on the lookout for one meself. Does anyone know if the Halfrauds ones are okay? Normally I wouldn't, but I'm assuming even they can't f**k up a roofbox.

You'd be surprised....but if you have a council recycling depot near you, well worth checking it out. on our last visit there were 2 top boxes lying there.
May need cleaning up a bit, or with a quick coat of spray paint they'd have come up like new.......but they were going for a tenner each!!

I have a 550L roofbox , used it once for a holiday to France on a V70 . A trailer would have been charged for by each metre its adds to the length on the ferry , the Irish ferries all work together in a cartel to ensure the customer is thoroughly ripped off , some of them even charge extra for the roof box . The main problem with my roofbox is that its the size of a wardrobe and storing it is a pain , always seem to be tripping up over it or dragging it out the way.
