Marshalls are useless, just like the bell-end bells franchise locally, get a second opinion from another franchise dealer if they say "I can't find anything" as it's Marshalls perogative to fob customers off.

If you are lucky you might get a Honda jazz courtesy car too instead of a Volvo 🙄

Personally I avoid my local Marshalls dealership whenever possible. They are useless and also (in my experience) are 'creative' with their charges.

I can recommend TMS, and they are not too far from Huntingdon; they have branches in Coventry and Leicester, amongst others. A bit further than from Cambridge, but I presume you want the problem sorting out

I regularly use TMS Hinckley despite being based in Derbyshire.

Anyway, I hope you get the problem sorted out quickly.

My warranty will expire this summer and, certainly based on the current car market, I’m looking increasingly likely to keep it.

Same car is £250-300pcm more than when I purchased it. Bonkers.

I’ll have to start researching which warranty companies cover the erad nonsense.

Same car is no longer available in the UK anymore as they stopped selling Polestar Engineered models from MY23, I'm assuming you are quoting prices for the XC60 T8 Ultimate which is on no way the same car as a PE (yet much more expensive).

So far in my experience, the Extended Range ERAD is leauges ahead of my previous car's ERAD, much smoother and less odd knocking and whining noises but only time will tell I suppose.

We need the OP to confirm which one his car is, the Extended Range cars only appeared in late 22 form for the XC90 (I think) so being a 22 plate, it could still be the standard range car.

My previous car developed a knock from the ERAD as I pulled away from stationary in electric mode. It went in a number of times and the dealership eventually pulled out 2 technical bulletins relating to the drive shafts that causes the knock, one relates to the type of grease used on the drive shaft splines and the other relates to the bolts holding the drive shaft and the CV joint together.
My car had both done (new bolts installed and torqued as per the bulletin details) and the drive shaft splines removed, cleaned and new spec grease put on.
The clunk went away for about 2-3 weeks but started to come back again however, I never took it back in as I was switching to my new car shortly afterwards so couldn't be bothered with the hassle of taking it back in.

The new ER drive train is like night and day compared to the old one. I can't even tell if the engine is running or not, it's THAT quiet. No noise from ERAD etc at all.

I'm still blown away by the new car and the leaps they have made in the area of NVH!

I’d also recommend TMS if possible, I bought my XC90 from the Coventry dealership and use them for servicing even though I have dealerships closer to where I live. Very impressed with them.

Do please feedback once you get any info from the dealership.

The high voltage coolant heater seems to be a common issue, looks like Volvo changed supplier for the heater due to all the failures and there was also a software update aimed at reducing failures too.
Mine has worked fine since I took delivery and hope it keeps going, fingers crossed!!
Good morning all,

Well, finally had confirmation yesterday that the entire ERAD will be replaced under warranty. It goes in on the 30th for three days.

Took Marshalls a little while to confirm that it wasn’t a ‘normal’ noise (by taking another 22 plate T8 for a drive apparently) but I’m happy with the outcome. I’ll update here once the work is done and I’ve tested it.

Cheers

Can anyone tell me when an ERAD has been repaired with the special parts repair kit whether it conforms to the later ERAD spec or just remains an old spec that could fail in the same way that it already has.

If you are referring to the early cars having ERAD repairs, then this was with revised parts, so in theory the same failure should not re-occur.
