Hi Jim,

I'll have to wobble off down the garage to take a peek; but given V-jet's description I doubt they will do the job for me.

I'll certainly let you know soon as.

Cheers,

T

The 2 piece factory rear blind mounts semi-recessed in the rear parcel shelf, so to fit them you'll need to cut long grooves in the parcel shelf, while the later 1 piece accessory rear blind mounts on top of the parcel shelf so you'll only need to drill it to screw it on.

Volvo made the 1 piece rear blind because the 2 piece rear blind won't fit 1991 & 1992 740 saloons. Up to 1990 the rear centre brake light on the saloon had been attached by metal clips glued onto the rear window, but from 1991 the rear centre brake light is mounted by a plastic bracket under the parcel shelf, similar to how 940/960 saloon's rear centre brake light is mounted. Because the earlier 2 piece rear blind is semi-recessed, if you try and fit that into a 91 or 92 model (and yes I have tried) the rear centre brake light bracket will get in the way.

Here's a photo of the accessory 1 piece rear blind for 740 / 760 saloon...

thats very weird.. mine was on a H plate, 1991 and these were in it. can you show an early model then if this is the later style? it looks like that parcel shelf is different to what was in the limo. the breaklight looks the same to me

Did the H plate had the same dashboard & instrument panel design as 940s? Or did it have the old rectangular instrument panel? 740 saloons with 940 style dashboard also has the later brake lights. Earlier and later brake light looks almost identical, the main difference is hidden below the parcel shelf.

Not the greatest photo of the early factory fitted sunblind but it's the best I can find. Compared to the later type, the earlier type is semi recessed with the roller hidden below the parcel shelf.

760's were produced up to 1990 model year, in 1991 they were replaced by 960, but 740 production carried on for another 2 years alongside 940. The newer style brake light I mentioned were never fitted to 760s, they were only fitted to 1991 and 1992 model year 740s which also had 940 style dashboard. So in other words these blinds will fit all 760 saloons, but only 740 saloons with the older style rectangular instrument cluster.

The best way to check the model year is from the VIN number. The 10th place in the VIN number designates the model year, L stands for 1990, M stands for 1991 and N stands for 1992. For example YV1744886L2492684 is a 1990 model year.
