Anyway.....your car looks amazing and in like new condition. A true credit to you sir.

You can still buy the pressed metal panel on the rear of the petrol tank from Volvo at a good price. £28.00 part number 3531436.

Your pictures of the front bumper strip down to replace the top cap have answered the questions I needed to know. Thanks for your help on that one.

I just read your post from start to finish. Its a great wright up with nice pictures(I like pictures). Keep up the good work
Thanks for your kind words and for the reassurance the overspray is meant to be there.

My tank protector is fine and I've bought a can of Lanoguard to protect it so is should last a long time yet.

Front bumper is an easy job, make sure you buy the correct pop rivets when putting it back on.

Plenty pictures on my Flickr page CLICK HERE for the link. Hope you enjoy them

4x4 - this car is a real credit to you. My collection of 850s aren't as clean, however you've given me the enthusiasm to keep at them.
I presume your using Taggarts in Hillington?

There are a850 accessories catalogues in PDF files online that will give you an idea of what was available when the cars were new. If you check it out and see something you like it's always worth asking your dealer if it;s still available.

Keep up the good work and start a thread about your car, that should give you even more enthusiasm

I'll be on Bute in July for a family gathering (scattering the ashes), if I bring the 850 I'll let you know and we can meet up if you're available

My C70 was totally factory original when I bought it. The first thing I noticed was that under seal had been applied by spray to all the nuts and bolts from the front subframe to the rear suspension. Consequently there are no rusty bolts . Also underseal had been applied to the inner rear wheel arches and there was overspray on the arch liners. I have never seen this regime on any other Volvo I have owned but assume it is a P80 platform thing.

Yes, Taggarts Hillington. That auto gearbox dipstick I ordered through them lately - I was surprised at how cheap it was - both Taggarts and FRF seem to be surprisingly cheap for main dealer parts.

Thank you - I really should make a few threads, thinking back, I have done a fair bit in improving the cars, however I really should take more photographs as I progress.

And certainly, would be good to see it and show mine too, just drop me a wee message!

Best,

Joseph

It's almost time to get the 850 back on the road. Pushed it out the garage and gave it a wash then started it for the first time in 6 months. Going to the MOT station tomorrow for its annual test Video here Click

I bought Lanoguard whilst it was on promotion in the winter and I decided today I should apply it to the underside of the 850. Just need to let it dry for 24 hours and should be good to go.

Fantastic looking car and the condition is just amazing. Thanks for sharing your photos. Am very jealous of the garage you have. Hope the 850 brings you much joy.

Thanks for your kind words, I started building the garage 14 years ago and it took me almost 2 years to complete, but well worth the effort. The ramp was not supposed to be there as I had planned for a pit, but when I excavated the area it filled with water and I back filled it and bought the ramp. I had to fit extra trusses to the roof to allow me to cut an area out to allow the cars into the roof space

This morning I touched up the parts I missed yesterday and it's drying rather nicely to a factory finish look. Well pleases with the results and if can save a Land Rover from rusting it will preserve the 850 for another 200 years.

Tomorrow the 24th April is National Drive it Day so in preparation of participating in a local event the 850 has been washed, tyres dressed bumpers and door handles coated with Technic C4 (2 years since last done).
