Thanks Clan, it is going into my local indy, Volmech, on Monday. Just trying to think ahead. Am hoping it is going to be a simple, not too expensive repair. Suspect not.

Hi dd1898,
Sorry not been on here for a while, but moved house and problems with the electrics and broadband etc. Hope your getting somewhere with your diagnosis. I didn't use my car with the DEM off the car. There is a pressure sensor which is literally sandwiched between the DEM and the rear diff, so if the DEM is off the car, the pressure sensor cant be held in and you will lose fluid from the Haldex part of the rear diff. Like CLAN said, I've heard of these pressure sensors going wrong, but also heard of the DEM's going wrong and BCM's going wrong. But the point I'm making is that without being able to pinpoint fault codes, you risk losing money by buying bits that maybe are fine. To the best of my knowledge, the only way you can properly diagnose your car is to allow Volvo to plug your car into their diagnostic computer, other fault reading machines just arn't specific enough. It cost me £28 but i've got to say it was money well spent. Sounds like the local Indy may be able to put his finger on the problem, and he may have the proper diagnostic computer system to diagnose the probllem. Lets hope its a cheap fix. Let me know how you get on mate. My XC90 has been great this week in all this snow, and even though I've been crawling about, still managed 30 MPG's :-) |

After a week with Royal Mail my BCM arrived at BBA Reman yesterday, they have checked it over and cannot find a fault with it. Due back tomorrow then car back in with indy next Monday to see what additional faults are on there. Will see what happens when I connect it back into my car, as the 'Brake Failure' was intermittent then might get the AWD back.
Don't think so though. |

I must say it ruined my day when they checked my BCM and it was fine, I was pinning my hopes on it being that. But at least you know the BCM is fine, so its something to tick off. Did BBA charge you for testing it? I got away with it because they said they were only 99% sure it was fine :-/ Good luck anyway and let us know how it goes.

BCM Fault sorted :)
Had my car back in to local indy today (Volmech). My BCM had been inspected by BBA and they could not find a problem with it. Got it back over the weekend and still 'Bake Failure' message and no AWD.
Volmech looked at it today and in the end found that one of the relays at the rear of the dashboard was throwing everything out. * SAS control module signal missing * They replaced it FOC as the car was with them a couple of weeks ago and they did not recognise the original fault. Pleased with Volmech for their honesty and also pleased because I have my AWD back in readiness for the poor weather later this week. Thanks for your help with this issue. Volmech also mentioned that they have replaced 3 AWD sleeves on XC90's over the past 2 weeks. |

Just to say: today I finally got round to repairing the ABS ECU on the wife's 850, following the advice on this forum. (It should have been done last month but the holidays got in the way.)
I cracked open the ECU case, removed the rubbery lacquer, de-soldered, re-soldered, re-lacquered, slapped it together again and sealed it with mastic. ABS and Tracs lights now go out and everything works as it should. Thanks VOC forum - without you I couldn't have fixed it. Justin |
