I agree with you Ben, it's all in the detail!
thanks Ben, yes it's nice to see things come together :-) I know I'll finish the project soon and sods law, I'll end up selling the car! My spoiler remains in the paintshop, apparently the paint reacted and needs treating first. There are two bolts either side on mine. On the original spoiler there is a single bolt and a thread hole each side. There are templates that come with the original to aid the installation but if you read here or on Swedespeed you'll see a pretty decent installation overview. I also have a copy of the installation manual if you want? Personally speaking, I'm just going to make a template and drill holes. Before fitting I'll seal the drill cuts in the paint and add tigerseal for peace of mind. I know one day the missus is going to chuck the car through the car-wash and I really do not want any little incidents! Im hoping to get the bits back this weekend and fit if all goes well.

If you do have a copy of the instructions that would be simple to scan, that would be good, mine (£54 delivered from abtbodykits on ebay, or whatever they are called) didn't come with any instructions. Probably the same replica as yours, mine has two bolts either side.
How to acurately make a drill template is the question. Then figuring out what lies beneath the point you'll be drilling. Probably some wiring passing close by. That's why I'm thinking maybe just to tigerseal it. Perhaps if I keyed the surface first to ensure it sticks well. Looking at the design of the boot if it does go wrong there's only the little panel about the window to respray, it's not like that panel continues around the sides of the window! |

Great Guide that Swedespeed one! I'll be following that carefully!
Seeing the spoiler fitted makes me impatient! Every time I look at the back of my car now it's lacking something!! |

I managed to install my rear lights as the next part of the face-lift.
Notice the gap between lights and bumper on the newer lamps. Next the bumper needs to go on....Monday's going to be a busy day!

More progress.
Rear Spoiler installed. Installed a paper template on the tailgate either side (just plain paper) Then I used another piece of paper to place over the fixing surface of the spoiler. Marked out the bolt holes then stuck the paper to the spoiler. Positioned the spoiler on the tailgate in the correct position, removed the tape holding the paper template on the spoiler and stuck down to the tailgate. Where the holes in the paper were, just drew a circle through to the paper underneath....that's it, you have you drill holes. Installed the spoiler first time without requirement for adjustment. I used double-sided exterior tape to secure the spoiler (between the fixing surfaces). Drilled the holes as per the swedespeed link! ...Perfect, will post pics later :-)

Here's the results of my efforts.
As for the rear bumper skirt, long story but in short I was sold the wrong part, had it painted and it turned out it wouldn't fit (for an S40 not V50). So I installed a spare which was slightly damaged. Off to the paintshop tomorrow to get the front bumper re-done and the lower rear skirt....weekend, the job should be complete :-)
