I get the feeling the seller has been messed about a bit by prospective buyers - if a genuine buyer steps forward now he/she could get a nice motor car at a good price.

I get the feeling that turning caps lock off, taking a minute to fix typos, and inserting some basic punctuation would help this car's cause...

If my hypothesis is correct then the seller is playing a pretty daft game. The market for 144s will be miniscule - almost everyone in the country interested in that motor car will have watched the past offers and noted the same pattern as I have.

It looks like the seller has a target of about £7,000, in which case it will probably still be offered for sale this time next year. I don't know how sellers become convinced their motor cars (this applies to motorcycles as well) are worth so much more than the market value, but we see and comment upon it so often in these pages (my thanks to BicycleBoy for taking the time to search out the more bizarre).

Well, that 144 seems to have sold this time - at £3,100. Is that a good price for a middling 144? I don't know, but the market seems to have spoken (unless we see it again next week).

Odds on its reappearance?

Ah, I must have made my thoughts on that happening just a little too obvious. You saw through me :-)

It's not that far north, Galashiels, Scottish Borders. 50 miles from Newcastle!

Many thanks. A lovely part of our country it is as well; I delivered a 244 to Selkirk only last month and skirted around Galashiels on the way. It was a 2 day trip with a car and trailer though (from Northamptonshire); most the potential buyers for a motor car like this might consider that a long way north and would be put off by the journey and the costs.

It depends upon one's perspective of course, from Glasgow it is just down road, but the larger proportion of our nation lives further south and would consider Newcastle too far north to collect a motor car.

:-)

PS. The Borders can be quite remote, this is a photo I took of an A road (from memory the A708) in the way back from Selkirk:

... beautiful, but that wasn't even the narrowest part!

Default Nice 122S for £4,000

This is a nice looking Amazon for a sensible price:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134254430...Bk9SR56ciczxYA

... we see lots for sale at £10,000 and more, this one is £4,000 and seems to be in quite good order.

:-)

Can't think that it was worth the engine premium, given the amount of work needed, but I guess someone thought otherwise. Rarity premium, I suppose.

I’d find it hard to believe if I met someone who said they weren’t surprised!
