Same thing applies to the V90 large volume but too low from roofline at tailgate to bottom of the rear screen to get much in of any size. If you only load up to the glass line they are ok but above the glass line its limited, the old XC90 and the V70 had much better load space above the glassline to the tailgate as it did not slope as much and the old XC90 was 2" wider. I owned 3 Mk 1 XC90s and know from practical experience the cargo area was a larger square box shape to pack things in. I tow a caravan and used to get my dog and equipment in the old XC90 with plenty of room for him to move but cant get the same in the new XC90. Not far off but that 2" extra "floor" width and a less sloping tailgate made a big difference. Last edited by nu11eaf; Mar 3rd, 2018 at 22:22. |

So the cargo space of the new XC90 is bigger, but less useful, in part because of the slope angle of the tailgate?
The difference is big in the V90 compared to the V70, but it doesn't seem to be much different in the XC90, certainly not above the glassline. My previous car was an XC70, so I can't compare XC90's, but the cargo space of the XC90 is much bigger. It seems very difficult for you not to be negative about SPA Volvo's. I apologize beforehand if I am mistaken.

Cargo space is still very good in the new XC90 and for most people if you need more then you need a van not an SUV, I include myself in that too, the load area with all 7 sests up is bigger or deaper on the new XC90 than the old model but rake of the tailgate reduces load height a little over the old model and as mentioned earlier the 2" extra floor width of the old model gave it the edge in the main cargo area, after all the floor is where you put most of your cargo. And you could get the industry standard 48" boards in it, the new one is only 46" wide at the floor. But still a very impressive load area and beats the rival SUVs. All my comments were practical observasions and from user experience and not not meant to be taken as any form of criticism or negativity towards any of the new models. |

[QUOTE=nu11eaf;2376451]The spa cars are all very good, I am not trying to be negative, I looked at the V90cc and had to dismiss it as a practical option for me as my dog could not fit in the back and the low sloping tailgate made it more like a long hatchback than an estate car. But it is a very good looking car.
How big is your dog I can get a border collie and a smooth coat in mine no problems?

Seems we have more SUV owners than any other type, I didn't really think of Volvo as an SUV company, but thinking about it in the last 2 months driving the V90 I have seen only one other out on the road (excluding the MD's V90) and that is it. I have also only seen 1 S90. But I have noticed lots of XC90s and a few of the new style XC60s.

Perhaps, unlike the XCs, the Vs and Ss are more easily overlooked?

Looks like we have two SPA V60s on here, does that mean Volvo are taking orders for the new model or has somebody made a mistake on the poll?
Anyone ordered a new V60?
