Nigel, I've had the same issue with my wife previously. However she relented and she came to love the Yeti we had for two years. We would have got another but the boot wasn't quite enough for a growing family. The Kodiaq would probably suit us perfectly but the lease quote for that was excessive in comparison to the Superb so that is off the list.

Get people past the old image and Skoda's have a lot to offer.

Best new car I ever had was a Skoda Octavia Vrs. Towed the caravan superbly.

I've had really good pricing in for both Superbs so unless something goes horribly wrong it is likely to be one of those. I'm at a point where interior space and boot space is well needed so lifestyle estates are no use to me.

I've had 5yrs of Volvo's now and I couldn't take another 3yrs with the same interior, options being either a V60 or XC60, neither of which have changed. I need more boot space than a V60 gives so those two things rule the V60 out. I want an auto this time and the economy drop in the XC60 would be too painful, as would the extra BIK that would incur. The quality of my XC60 has also not been good enough. If I am paying a premium tax wise I have high expectations. They have not been met.

I may well return to Volvo in the future but at the moment I fancy a break. The Superb really does offer a lot for your money and as it keeps winning What Car awards it can't be a complete mare.

I had leather in a car a few years ago and the heated seats were glorious. Never needed them on cloth seats though and that is a bit of tax I can keep to myself.
just had 3 years in a Leon ST FR diesel - been delighted with the experience, so the Superb Estate should be a cracker. What engine/gearbox are you having?> They do a 280BHP DSG version that sounds absolutely delightful!!

A little more mundane I'm afraid. 2.0TDi, 150Bhp, standard stuff. Hopefully the test drive will show this is enough. Let's face it you don't get one of these to go round the nurburgring. I'm going for the auto, dsg they call it. I've had manuals all the way but I fancy relaxing with an auto this time around. I must be getting old.

The Leon is a good car, I just need more space.

The only Superb I've been up close to was the "hatch"version. It had two buttons on the boot[up where the number plate lights are]if you pressed one of them the bootlid would open[as on an ordinary saloon]leaving the rear window in place. However shut the bootlid and press the other button and the entire back opened up like a hatchback!!
From past experience I'd avoid a DSG gearbox like the plague, but that's possibly just me!

The new superb has a traditional one piece boot lid now.

Don't know much about the DSG gearbox but our taxi drivers mostly use manual Superb's so that might tell a tale or two.

DSG's are great until they fail, and many do.
Don't Shift Gears is a common nick name for them.

Apparently it is standard on that model. Looking forward to that as people rave about it.
