Fair enough, i'm quite happy to knock another job of the list! I'll have to practice my braking.

Please do not take this as a criticisim of your driving. Have you ever considered taking a defensive driving course? I became an Institute of Advanced Motorists member when I was 18. I found the instruction I took taught me a lot and has stood me in good stead. I also managed a refresher on a local police run better driving course. Learning defensive driving should mean that emergency braking is almost unknown.

Hi,
Quote:
They don't, the wheels are locked and can't go any slower!! Hence the cadence braking (and I suspect that a driving course will help tremendiously) can assist. BUT it is preperation for the unexpected that allows you to apply cadence braking. Knowing how to cadence brake, does not necessarily mean that you will apply that knowledge! Happened with me on a hill with ice/snow. Car just wouldn't stop. Blind panic takes over and the pressure on the brake peddle increased..!!! Didn't stop the car though, the opposite kerb did. Des. . .

One other point it is worth checking out the rear brakes. Partially seized calipers, sticky calipers and corroded ot worn discs all affect efficiency and make the front more likely to lock. Mike
