It does look OK. No sign of leakage from the battery. That should be fine with a new battery.

I found this on ebay. Comes with the connector. It's said to be compatible with my siren part #.

However I noticed that the seller is selling a 320mAh rated battery, whereas the one on the XC is a 240mAh. That should be fine right?

As long as the voltage is the same, it will be OK

Why would insurance not pay out, the car will never be seen again and the insurance will have no way of knowing what was working or not on the vehicle, and alarm is not a condition of insurance.

Doesn't have to be stolen and never seen again to put in an insurance claim. A smashed window and all your valuables nicked or the interior trashed is more likely to result in claim being made than the car being stolen. There has been discussion on here before of first hand experience of problems with insurance as a result of non-functioning alarms, especially if it has been intentionally disabled, which probably fall within the definition of a 'modification' as per the T's and C's of the policy.

An alarm working or not would have no effect on preventing a window being smashed or items stolen.

....obviously it won't prevent it, but the sound of a working siren is more likely to make the perpetrator leave the scene before he'd finished rooting thru your belongings at his leisure.
