Another little step, the car is up and running, it definitly has more urge with the 531 head and the A cam. It doesn't so much feel drastically more powerful, but it revs much more freely. It pulls hard to 6000 rpm and it would be far easier to go past the red line than it was with the T cam.

In other news the air conditioning is now working again. I fixed it last year but used a pattern receiver drier. One of the threads on it was cut slightly off square and it consequently didn't seal the pipe properly. It now has a new genuine Volvo receiver drier; it just fits better and the system checked out perfectly. My ears are still cold after the obligatory test drive! It would appear we now also have working Turbo +

Tomorrow I'm going to poly bush the cone bushes in the track control arms and fit 960 axle reinforcing brackets.

When you say axle reinforcing brackets are they the ones on the front crossmember ?
I keep meaning to ask the local dealers about these.

I spotted them on Turbobricks and thought they were a good idea. Plus if Volvo fitted them it must have been for a reason.
One day I will get round to sorting my front suspension out. I have already got the cone bushes fitted, just need some new shocks, top mount mod doing and possibly these strengthening bits.

Sorry to be nosey but what and where from is the exhaust ? I'm looking round at the moment for mine.

I did indeed fit the poly bushes to the track control arms today. I've got them on my own car and they're still fine after 150K miles, I was changing the standard ones every few years.

Next up were the 960 cross member reinforcing brackets.

They fill the gap in the cross member inside of the lower arm. They're easy to fit, remove the plate under the cross member and the nut from the pivot bolt on the lower arm.

Next up were the flat wipewr blades, so far I rather like them, they definitely wipe better, there again the old ones were slightly fubarred!

Finally I decided to fit the nether regions air vent volvo fitted to the 740 and then deleted. The 940 heater still has the outlet you just need to trim the dome off the end to open the duct up.

The trim under the dash has aperture to fit the vent, it simply screws in place.

It ends up looking like this. I like this vent, especially now the airconditioning is working! Lets face it, no one is going to argue with me; no one is going to stand up and argue the pros for sweaty balls

One little thing that has stayed with me from my 740 and moved to all the 940's Ive had is the interior light fitting that has two map reading lights in it as well. A silly thing but a nice touch and usefull.

They carried these on in the 960

You're right, a nice little touch.

Must admit though, I prefer the lighting in the 850

Car looks spot on BTW
