By the way, if I get a route suggstion from A-town to B-town that passes C-town, but I by experience or other preference would like the route to pass D-town instead, I typically use the voice command to ask the system to insert D-town into the travel plan.
This will give a new route. When I'm approaching D-town, I can again use the voice command to eliminate D-town from the route, since I probably don't actually want to enter into D-town, just pass by. By that time I'm already close enough to D-town to maintain a route passing D-town. |

Thanks for that workaround. I tend to now not use the voice command after it couldn't recognise "London" no matter how I pronounced it! The worry for me would be that if it continued to act up when putting in this extra waypoint it would become a major distraction while driving.

Have you gone through the voice "teaching" procedure?
That it's missing some obscure minor city, is that really an issue? :-) |

I may not have gone through the voice teaching procedure. It'sa been a year or more since I bought the car and I cannot remember. I'll give it a go.
London is less attractive these days for D5 engined cars. They already charge a fee for internal combustion engined cars entering the city but they are proposing to add an additional charge for diesel engines. 5 years ago the government was strongarming car owners to buy diesel cars and now they are to be punished for having done so. I would expect my XC70 to last up to 20 years with careful use and routine maintenance, and it is this which justifies spending the extra on the purchase of a Volvo, but now it is possible that the pressure to scrap this great piece of automotive engineering is going to increase as our law makers do a 180° turn on what is and what is not pollution.

Regarding diesels it's the same here. I think it's the VW fiasco that woke the politicians up and gave them the idea to turn the rules around completely.

Check if this is the correct one for yours (it may not be) but you can now get 2018(!) maps. That's forward planning
