Stange thing to say "shouldn't pressurise" as has already been said the coolant system is pressurised so that it raises the boiling point of the coolant! The thermostat isn't fully open until the coolant in the engine has reached over 100 degrees!!

Goergy Dee- A boost leak looks like your culprit. Jod seems to be on the right line of diagnosis. I have had a problem with mine where I thought it seemed to be hitting boost cut. The problem was cured with the purchase of a OE inlet manifold gasket. I have fitted two in the past after cleaning out the PCV system and they were the points of Air leaks/ingress. Have you ever had the inlet manifold off to clean or check the PCV system and if you have the gasket leak is one of the hardest to find. Companies such as Jamsport and Motorsport developments offer a service of leak detection through system pressurisation, with compressed air. I hope you find the culprit.

Hi,

22psi sounds Ok to me. When they pressure tested my 940 following a repair they pushed the pressure to 40psi (but that was with a grey cap fitted).

Yes, the pressure will drop as soon as you turn the engine off and as soon as the engine starts cooling down.
Test this by very slightly undoing the cap, and you will hear the hiss and see the bubble of coolant as the overflow tank fills!
Wait an hour, and you will be able to do the same with only a little hiss and much less pressure.

Again, imaging that closed space with you boiling the water.
As the water comes to the boil te pressure will increase.
Turn the heat off and leave it and the pressure will drop with the reduction in temperature...

Des. . .

Default Pics of Bird strike!!!!

Here's some pictures of me hitting a Pheasant at **mph on the A65 at Skipton on the 1st Feb 08 on the way upto Centerparcs in Cumbria.

I have since polished the bonnet back to new, replaced the grill clips and re-painted the grill.

No other damage apart from a new set of PANTS!!!
