Just a note:
The connecting tube (between the two brackets) are not the same length for 1800 series as for the 120 series. The 1800 seat is narrower, so if buying a set from a 1800 for use on an Amazon it's not a 100% bolt-on job. Otherwise no problem.

The ones in the eBay listing looks ok - 'mint' is a strong word I think

I have a P1800S 1966. I don't think they were ever fitted to this car,but I don't care. I think they would look great. a little bit of polishing/plating will have them like new !

They were as with the Amazon an option.

Well, in short: No.

Look close and I mean this only with best intensions - when the brackets have what those advertized have: small cracks in the chrom, with rusted iron underneath - and therefore the cracks have 'raised' the chrome - there's no "getting them look like new".

I've copied one of the pictures from the auction.. The spots and pitting you see will not polish out

I'm just saying so you wont get disappointed. The reason these recliners go for high prices when they are really nice is exactly this - if the are bad, there's no 'easy' way out and taking them apart for re-chrome is more or less silly..

The last set of these to sell on Ebay fetched $423.oo described as. Chrome has minor pitting, worst on lower inside sections where seatbelt hardware likely to hit. Plastic buttons on inside also scratched. Now that sounds expensive. Regards Paul

The good condition ones for sale are drivers side only. That's ok with me .Drivers side over there not the same as here !. Not desperate but if a full set turns up at reasonable money could be tempted. Might try other classic car sites as I believe these are generic parts fitted to many cars. Thanks for post Paul

Paul,

If you go for those in the auction (1. link), I can provide the "rest" for you...

The-handle-one: Is a very nice used one - does of course have marks from use etc. but it is not an item that has been rusted and then polished out. Chrome is deep and shiny.
The-other-side-one: Is a NOS item..yes.. but there is a minor damage to it - see picture - the little rusty spot - well, it will sit completely hidden when installed.. Chrome is perfect otherwise.

The set is the set that I have over now that I found a complete NOS set (as per above)..

If interested - PM.

Don't count on that.. Yes, the basics (mechanism) where made for many car models, but the seats differ all too much in construction. (- they are mostly seen on early Porsches - try google picture search "porsche recliners")

These Recaro Kieper mechanisms were mainly fitted to high end cars - as well as the Porsches that CVS mentions, I've also seen them on Maseratis and Ferraris. When tipping forwards, some variants twisted the seat for easier access to the rear seats (e.g. on Maser 3500GT) so as CVS says, they are not all the same. I haven't seen them on any other relatively normal cars aside from Volvos, so I'd be very surprised if there is a cheaper source for any version than the Volvo ones, and that's before the issue of interchangeability (or not) between marque variants.
