Why are they £200 from a breakers?
They're not exactly in high demand and have no intrinsic value off the shelf because further work is needed.

Hi according to Huddersfield breakers the ECU is quite a rare one? how that should be is questionable and thats what they want for it, i too was somewhat taken back back by it but its a sellers market they have it we need it, so i guess they can pretty much grab a figure out of the air!
Still no word from the ECU repair company as to wether they have managed to sort it finally!

Have you tried these? http://www.volvobreakers.co.uk/index.php

I've had good advice from them in the past.

Just had a look on the website, ecu's for your engine are £100

Thankyou for that, should we need to go down this route we shall give them a call, the car has been off the road for over a month now, which is crazy! i,m going to do some chasing up as from tomorrow, the ECU repair company are trying but not getting a result, it,s back and thor to to their base in Colchester, which is all time consuming and getting us nowhere!

Cutting to the chase, he disconnected the main ECU live and reconnected the the same, TWIT! needless to say he had a dashboard like a xmas tree with some 22 error codes showing when scanned, these cleared ok but a few weeks later the car decided to be a start/non start vehicle until it died!
After much checking of everything else the ECU was sent off to a reputable repairer and yes there was much damage!
Sadly this has gone on for weeks now, the repair company just cannot seem to get this right, its been back and thro to them, they even yesterday sent an engineer to see what is happenning, the latest being it will start readily but run like a sack of spanners when revs are raised!
So on to Plan B! if we were to source a donor ECU, a known good one say from Huddersfield? this will then need to be cloned to the vehicle, is this dealer only? or someone with a Vida? equally is it possible that there maybe further electronics damage elsewhere?
All this for being a twit and not listening to good advice, i said i would do it and obviously do the battery disconnect should i have needed to but looking at it there seems to be more than ample harness to just flip it out of the way, what a numpty, any advice greatly appreciated.
I am about to have towed away a 2001 2.4 V70 you can have the ECU from if it would suit yours. I've taken almost everything else out of it already so just going for scrap.

To be honest, if TDI is good enough to let you have the ECU I would accept it anyway rather than being too concerned re matching numbers and just hope that you get lucky with it.

Would be great for you if his ECU got you sorted.
