Are there any solutions for pre-06 cars to use external source for audio - with good sound quality??

Alternatively, can the old CD/Radio units be replaced with the newer ones? (Still not sure if the newer ones can play MP3? )

Hi Ron,
Do you know if the Denison 500 can use the Volvo RTI screen? Since the CrapNav borders on unusable, it would be great to use the display for audio. I guess ideally, I'd have an A/B switch and occasionally be able to use the RTI...
Thanks,
Tom

Default Parrot MKi200

I've had a Parrot MKi200 BT with aux leads etc fitted to my 2003 XC90. In fact, I've had 2! They both lasted about 5 mins and the blue box (parrot) stopped working. Going back to Halfords today to fight for my money back! (I've lost/binned the receipt).
The unit cost about £200 and Halfords fitted it for about £25 + Volvo leads @ about £40 I think.
My CD changer doesn't work either so stuck with the radio and no handsfree. I would love to fit a new headunit with sat nav etc but been quoted £2000+!!! Any one else done this cheaper??

I got exactly the same story from my Halfords fitter "oh I've only ever seen a blue box break once before"
Funny how mines gone twice in less than a month!!
Did they refund you?

Default Volvo Ipod kit not compatible

Wondering if any seasoned XC90 Audiophiles can give any advice.

My '07 XC90 apparently is not compatible with the "volvo" ipod kit due to it being an early 2007. Does this make sense and does anyone know why ?

I have the AUX socket but would like use of the ipod/iphone via the Head unit and steering wheel controls, like i had with my previous ipod kid on my S60 which was alot cheaper than the XC equivalent.

Thanks guys.

I have the Parrot MKI 9200 fitted to our MY2004 D5, it's connected to the amp and fibre optic with a special lead which wasn't possible not so long ago, sounds great and works well.

Already have the volvo bluetooth handsfree kit installed and did not want to change it for a parrot, especially as i heard the music does not come out of the centre speaker and it runs off the Parrots own amp and not the cars, but your saying its now fully intergrated into the volvo amp ? sounds like a plan....
