RE: What a turnout to the Crooked Billet!
Power Engineering is a 4WD-capable rolling road, much used by the Impreza crowd for obvious reasons.
When I went there last year, it was about £25 for a session (group rate) which included free bacon butties as long as they lasted... They were very helpful with some cars that had mods that made the mix too lean or rich with longevity issues ensuing. Worth a trip, though not for me since it won't add anything to the reading I already have. A very good day Ian, and it changed my mind about the new Rs - at least in the S60 shell with a manual box. VAUC S60Rs start at £29000 by the way with about 3K miles up. However you can get a low mileage T5 in the same shell at £10K less - I wonder with appropriate mods whether it would be a more fun car? (hmmm...) |

Oh, Simon...
Forgot to mention-i was an "R" virgin until today. I would thank you, but i won't now because i bloody want one and don't have a hope in hell of owning one! Backroad's just don't seem as fun without 250hp under my right foot.... :9 Cheers! Dan M

RE: What a turnout to the Crooked Billet!
Hi Guys.
So sorry I couldn't make it, but a family priority happened and I wouldn't have been able to get there until the evening if I had tried. Keep posting the dates for the next meetings and I will make the first one I can. A rolling road day at PE would be cool too. Hopefully I will have had a remap by then. :) Later, Dan. |

RE: What a turnout to the Crooked Billet!
Many thanks Iain for organising a good day out. It was great to see such good support and it goes to prove that the "Performance Section" of the VOC is a very active and growing part of the Club. It was also good to put faces to the names of all the people that contribute so enthusiastically and in a lot of cases very informatively to this forum.
I hope to be able to do the Rolling Road day but, if work denies me, I will definately be along to the next meet! Thanks again..

I am up for a session on the rolling road, if I can make the date. Glad to hear that everyone had a good time on Sunday, hope to be there myself next time round.

RE: What a turnout to the Crooked Billet!
Hi Iain and fellow Performance members,
Sorry I could not make it on Sunday due to prior engagements, I feel very envious of all the fun you had.How many members and cars turned up? Went to the last rolling road session, but as my 'R' AWD is auto, could not get a bhp reading, other owners take note, so I'll give it a miss. Hope to make the next Billet though. Simon, your be pleased to know I took your advice, and had a strut brace fitted, as you know, my car already handled very well around the roundabout, you wait for your next trip!!! Excellent service from my local garage, Cambridge Volvo, Havant, they fitted it F O C, and I got 10% VOC discount. Look forward to seeing you all soon. Dave Powell V70 'R' AWD |

My friend brought his automatic Supra Twin Turbo to P.E. on the May 2002 Rolling road day, and he got a BHP reading. Why couldn't they do yours? I know that the Toyotas auto box is very strong, so perhaps it is the type of box or the driven wheels that determines it. Did they tell you specifically why the couldn't do it? Interested to hear that is all. :-) Cheers, Dan. |

RE: What a turnout to the Crooked Billet!
The point being with the auto is that it is an AWD, they have a problem only with this set up. Best thing to do is contact them for details.
Yes Iain, I asked how many Volvo's turned up, compared to the 14 last time, not how many partidges you counted in the pear tree??? Dave V70 'R' AWD |
