True in a sense. I don't know if/when diesels will become impractical to drive but since we are still a long way from commercial vehicles being electric, I imagine it will be a while. By that time mine will hopefully be off the radar and tax / mot exempt.
These lumps will also run on waste oil /veg which will be easier to come by than any synthetic / homebrew petrol substitute. |

:-) PS. If the Greens get into power with the Scottish nationalist party you may have to pushbike everywhere!

I forget the age of your car Juular, if it is fairly close to the 40 year point then get it registered as an historic vehicle first, then change the motor to a diesel afterwards. That way you will be able to claim the road tax exemption plus run your motor car on waste cooking oil from the Great Wall restaurant and take-away :-)

Substantially modified is the bogeyman hiding in the shadows here.
There was a diesel 240, not for this market though mercifully. To be tax exempt historic vehicle it needs to be pretty much as available when new. Though certainly a VW diesel engine is more "authentic" than a Toyota V8 or SBC for sure. Mind you, its an old Volvo, who is going to worry? |

I'll wait a few more years until it loses the "4" from the front of that price!
