They might have dropped 3bhp (2% decrease, which I am not sure is strictly true as I am sure it was 177BHP on the D5 as well), but they have now increased the torque from 350NM - 400Nm (15% increase), i know which I would choose!!!!!!!
A well improved economy and more torque. With injectors that don't allow diesel to seep into the oil!!!!!!
Remember,, its the same engine with new injectors. They have only shortened the stroke of the pistons.

It's supposed to be more responsive too allegedly?

you'd never notice the 3bhp - you would notice 15% more torque.

I love my car, its tailored to perfection (it is now!)
Definitely the heated seats for winter and the electric sunroof for summer. Solid build quality

Being able to remove the entire headlamp unit by pulling a retaining bar upwards is very good design. Never seen that before. Nice suprise when I came to change my bulbs!

Also, cabin quality. Easily up there with the Germans.

This is just a Ford underneath and it rusts too!!

Better to buy a German car - Volvo are good lookers but cannot ever beat German for quality!!

This is the sad truth without any icing!!!!!!!

The Volvo cars made before 2000 were made in Sweden by Swedes to a fairly high standard and were better offerrings then what we drive today!!!!!!!

Sadly even in those days Germans built that bit better and worked harder to acheive thier Gold Standard of workmanship.

Noteably I am talking about VW's, BMW's and Mercedes.

Sadly Mercedes have lost their way in the mid to late 1990's with rust buckets coming off production floor pained with water based paints!!!!!

Long live VW and BMW quality

Do you think you may have signed in to the wrong forum, it certainly doesn't say "German car club" at the top of the page.

We bought Volvo's because thats what we wanted, If we wanted to look like every other run of the mill trend followers, then i'm sure we'd have gone down the VW route, boring and lifeless.

Nah I'm sorry but I was tempted to buy a newish VW passat last year, sat it in it and the build quality hardly any different from the S40.

The S60 is DEFINTELY as well built as any german car.

Honda also have expectional build quality.
