The dealer offered £46K ! - only if we buy an other Volvo from them! He will then sell the car for about £52-53K ,which is correct.
That means for the pleasure of driving for 5 months has cost us £12K

But if you know a dealer who will offer more, please do put us in contact !

If you read the Volvo Reevoo reviews for the XC90's you will find that a few have been already sold within weeks due to their dissapointment with a lost of between £8K and £10 K.

To be fair, if you can afford to buy a 58k car then I am betting you can afford to lose a few quid. Unless it is financed up to the hilt . End of the day we all know that cars do nothing but whisk money out of our pockets and the biggest drop in value comes during the first three years. That is why I would never buy a brand new car.

Just depends on how you look at it and from what point in time. It's no secret that cars lose most value in the first 3 years, lose some more over the next 9 and then after about another 8 start to rise in value.[/QUOTE]

Very true. I don't pay much attention to price sites like Parker's. They never factor in desirability of a particular engine/model/spec. These things change over time based on failures and reliability records. For example will Parker's know anything about the XC90 T6 gearbox issues and factor that into the equation? Highly unlikely.

Those sites never consider proof of expensive work done either. Often to fix inherent faults.

The problem is that insurance companies often use them for a guide when you are looking at a write off, and that is bad news if you know your model can sell for a lot more. Very important to gather market info and proof of work done, so you can fight them for a decent settlement in that situation.

I understand that Volvo are struggling to shift the new XC90 because it is so overpriced. That is having a positive (upward) impact on the used prices of the old model, as they remain very popular. Sadly, the dealers are taking advantage by silly screen prices, which are unsustainable, as there seems to be glut of vehicles on the market.

I think all Volvos are overpriced. With the 25% discount the cars sit at about the right price. Without any discount, monumentally expensive!!

My local dealer sold their annual allocation in the first month. You have to go on the waiting list if you want one now.

There are very few second hand mark2 XC90's on the market.

Volvo had to add a night shift and take on 1,500 more workers to cope with the demand for the new XC90. They expect to make 50,000 new XC90's this year.

The waiting time for the USA new XC90 orders is 5 months.

Where did you get your info?

Apologies if I am misinformed. I am not in the market for the new model, but had heard from an independent specialist. Anyway, I am not finding many good value old model cars at the minute.......

I guessing a sales person gave you the spiel about the XC90 ll not selling to justify the price of the original XC90. The original has always held it's price well as they are always in demand. Mileage condition and history are the factors that will dictate the price.
