You probably shouldn't have been asked to pay 20%. If you have the paperwork, I'd challenge directly with Volvo UK "Why was I asked to pay 20% on a part that's now covered with a 5 year warranty with known fault?"

You may be pleasantly surprised with a cheque back.

Agreed +1

I would expect a refund of of the 20% - worth asking at the very least, you don't ask you don't get??

Just to add, after reading this thread and a previous callout from an Indy Aircon specialist telling me the Condensor was shafted I decided it was time to try my luck at my local Volvo.

Anyway, booked it in for today and it's been replaced and re gassed free of charge without me having to ask for anything special or have a debate.

Just to note Volvo have an offer on their main website at the moment for a free air conditioning checkup. Take them up on it if you have an issue!

Default Air Con Condenser failure

I have a late 2008 C30 R Design with 24000 miles on the clock which has been diagnosed with a corroded condenser. Does the extended warranty apply to C30s too? The Volvo dealer who diagnosed the fault mentioned nothing about it being covered under warranty. They quoted me £680 to fix it!

yes all p1 cars ring Volvo UK and tell them the dealership and get into contact with the dealer it should be FOC, it is not a warranty claim as such though.

Hi there
I am new to this forum. I have a Volvo V50 2.0d and was told by my independent garage that there is a hole in the condenser. Is it correct that Volvo replace this for free? I have contact Volvo bury, and they said that they will not replace it and if I want to complain to contact Volvo customer service!
Any ideas?

They should know although they sound like they are trying to play you if i were you get Volvo UK on it, and get them to force the dealer. You have not highlighted the age of the vehicle though so it is possible that it MIGHT in fact not be covered but check with VUK about it.

Sorry, it's a 2008 (58) and the mec at the independent garage said that he thinks it's a hole in the condenser from what he can see through the grill!
I contacted Volvo Warrington who said the they will have a look at it on Friday! They did say that they won't replace FOC if it's damaged, but if it's faulty they will as it's a known issue. Fingers crossed
