Thanks for the link for the Sealey kit. I'll order that one as it hopefully should cover any future requirements too.

That Sealey kit is well worth it: bugger all extra cost over the single Volvo tool and you can service other types with it. I needed it to remove a different (car) pulley that had a hex-of-enormity fitting (not a nut). No doubt it'll come in handy again too.

For the home DIYer, those blow moulded multipacks of various types of tools are amazing value.
I just bought a brake caliper rewind kit which covers compression only pistons, compression and twist, left thread, right thread, different piston diameters etc. and it was £16!
Tools that pay for themselves instantly......what's not to like?

Now look what you've done . There's the SX401 which is 13 piece kit that has fittings for every vehicle known to man: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-SX401...D5VJWTGS0HB038

It's twice the price but all my alternator pulley requirements are covered for life. Dilemma!

Cheaper still, if anyone wants the tool I used to change my alternator pulley they can have it. Doubt I'm going to use it again because I'm going back to Munich made cars after the s60. If I ever suffer brain damage and come to the conclusion that a Volvo is a good buy I'll buy another one lol

Thumbs up

Just to round this off for future searchers, I replaced the alternator pulley today, and the chirping has now stopped.

I have bought a replacement from Volvo for £73.96 inc vat.
The markings round the circumference are as follows--
INA F--553099 GERMANY 61 K 1113 04-----Compare this with the bottom line
INA F--553099 GERMANY 61 J 1105 10---This is ebay item No 251602672412 which costs £33.

Jude I have been looking into this myself recently. I've also sent an email to INA asking what the difference is, if any, between the two clutch pulleys. I'll let you know what they say as soon as they get back to me. They are identical in every way looks wise, but the Volvo one may have been made specifically for Volvo by INA to a different standard. Do you have a clutch pulley removal tool and a T60 torx bit?
