Ah 219 blue, so that's the colour code! Lol - I only took photos of the right-hand-side! Anybody got a front left-hand wing in 219 blue as there's a bit of rust above the wheel arch! The interior is in very good condition as well!

Aww.. another 300... in 219... another saloon... another GLT saloon... AND a '360' plate.. NICE! Looks pretty tidy that!
I know of a wing in 219, but I cant remember the condition of it in the local scrapyard, and it has the wrong 'bump' strip |

Hi Steve, it's good to have the 360 plate! - I'm pretty pleased with her! The front bumper will need to be replaced as well as the wing. Is the bump strip easy to replace?

Nice, and welcome to the joys of owning a 300! Excellent plate indeed! THey're a seriously underated car sadly. But, those who drive them appreciate them and there is just something about them. Enjoy it, looks like a nice example, so invest in some waxoyl, and fill the thing with it to prevent the rot! Prevention is better than cure, and as other have suggested, pop over to 300 mania to find the best knowledge and information, nothing against the VOC, but as previously said, the 300 section here is a little deserted.

Thanks Pete. I'm looking forward to sorting a few things out that need done over the next few days. Thanks for the advice on the Waxoyl. I've been for a look at 300 Mania!

The GLT injections have quite an aggressive cam from stock, witnessed by the slightly lumpy idle even when warmed up properly and share a lot of the induction from the 2.3 engines in the 240/740. |

I'd say the B200E still has a relatively short duration cam and restrictive intake/exhaust setup compared to the French and Italian rivals of the day....but I suppose it was supposed to be a sophisticated torque-happy machine for the discerning customer...much like the LPT models in Volvo's current range.
Or to put it another way, without adding displacement, there's nothing much to be done NA to notably boost the bottom half of the rev band - the head flows (very) well, so what's to be done? Getting more out of a B200 is all about the top end...although the sane money is on keeping the lazy, usable 'grunt' type power delivery, and going larger displacement, or for an early-spool turbo setup (or both!). cheers James |

The French and Italian 'rivals' of the day were designed from a different philosophy IMO. They were most probably a much lighter alloy construction rather than the rugged heavy iron and big flywheeled redblocks.
The A-Cam in the B200E is pretty aggressive, most probably to counteract the effects of the very heavy construction and internal componenets. The guys at Power Engineering raised a few eyebrows when I told them it struggles to generate 15 inches of manifold vacuum at idle. Most 'daily driver' type cars, even the 'sportier' ones, generate about 22-24 inches fairly easily at idle. The lightweight alloy engine in the B172 does it easily, as does the B14. |

I tried to resist posting yesterday, but may I also say "welcome to the club".
That is a nice looking motor and I'm v. impressed with the 360 plate.
