This site seems to have various chrome rolled tailpipes for £9.99 including delivery (!) What I do not know is the correct diameter required for a Volvo XC60 d3. Any help folks?

Just measured my D3 original equipment bare tail pipe and its 64mm diameter or two and a half inches in old measurement, a fair big pipe to me that doesn’t look particularly weedy.

Last edited by Daleman; Aug 27th, 2010 at 12:20. Reason: added bare tail pipe

Thanks for the clarification. Did you get it from Volvo or are they charging extortionate amounts for them?
There are other sites selling the sports chrome tailpipes but do you know the diameter of tailpipe that I would need for the d3?
Thanks for the assistance.

What I meant was unchromed and thin in nature of the steel used in the tailpipe.

The 65mm one should fit but you could play safe with the 70mm one .They usually have a grub screw to take up the slack.

Oh yes I see what you mean about weedy metal thickness wise. I think they are stainless steel but I wonder how long they will last .A mate of mine had an N reg Volvo on its original exhaust and my old Merc has done 15 years on the original exhaust. I would like to think these XC60 exhausts will last that long but doubt it.

Default tail pipes

we actually bought the http://www.aftermarketsounds.co.uk/8...haust-tip.html from aftermarketsounds for our volvo. the service we recieved was amazing, they truly do have their customer service skills up there with the best!

we actually only needed a tail pipe for a 66mm exhaust however ste recommened over the phone that the best one to go for was the 80 mm as this would fit from 65-79mm. he was correct and it also means when we change our car we can take the tail pipe too!

That’s great then you have solved all the guesswork thanks. What a brill idea going upsize in diameter so you can be moving the chrome tailpipe from car to car.

Why not just buy the D5 AWD - you get 2 chrome tailpipes with it - so much better than just one

Wink minor grumbles

Cocks 3s
Minor Grumbles,
Beige scuff plates on the sills. WTF? I'm careful but they are impossible to keep clean.

To clean the Beige scuff plates i use a piece of dampened Magic Sponge bought from fleabay for a few quid,(Cuts into 8 pieces)

just rub with the damp sponge and hey presto! black marks etc gone

finish with a coat of ArmorAll or similar plastic dressing.
