Might be USA only, but given you can't get VIDA beyond version 2014D it must be coming to the UK at some point. My local dealer has been having issues with VIDA portal today, down apparently... but will get back to me re-price today he assures me!

I wonder if they stand to lose out by not selling the DVD upgrades any more, though I can't imagine it would be a big source of income for them...

This is typical of Mill Garages. I avoid them like the plague.

I wonder if the iGo upgrade will make it to where the backyard mechanics with VIDA systems of dubious legality will be able to do it on the cheap...

I am asking Snows Salisbury for a quote....
Many thanks to the OP. It sounds like this method beats the previous 4 x DVD discs that take hours to load and BTW cost about £125 a set! (That is after the initial 2 free Mapcare updates.) It appears that my 2013 S80 is eligible for the USB method so I have asked Snows Salisbury for a quote to install the new satnav/infotainment software. I assume that this is all "new news" to them. Will report back when I get a reply.

I have asked to have mine done tomorrow but they couldn't give me a price over the phone as they were not aware of the upgrade when I phoned up the other day. I'll have to discuss it at the dealer and having a guide price is very useful.
I have downloaded the maps 21GB in anticipation, so will report back on progress
