Drove the car around through some A B roads and town driving , the hard shift into 3rd pretty much not there .

However sometimes it kicks hard as you switch from N to R , mainly when I slot it into reverse I can feel a hard kick.

That's encouraging - that bang has responded positively to other Members getting the updates/adaptations done IIRC.

As well, the bang has been eliminated in some cases by replacing worn engine mounts.
Give the LubeGard (red bottle) a try once the fluid is reasonably clean. You may realize another plateau of improvement as I did.
ps I don't sell the stuff etc.

I m thinking that 10L fluid will suffice to get the Transmission fluid clean , but I think I am still far away from achieving that , I ordered another tub 10L JWS3309 for 40 quid delivered , Will do the third fluid change this weekend and another 3 later on.

Once fluid is nice and red then I will add the Lubegard stuff .

Think hard shift from R to P when warm might be a software issue , certainly worn engine transmission mounts will make the transmission thud much more noticeable

Hi.

Just done the 3rd sump dump , drained 3L and refilled with same amount of fresh AFT , fluid was quite dark still.

Also just found out the transmission mount small bush is completely worn , its missing , that probably explains the clunks and thuds I feel in the cabin

Quite likely.. you can try the ghetto fix as a short term solution, pack it out with strips of bike inner tube until tight, go for a drive and see how that feels. Although in fairness it sounds like it needs a new one anyway

You can get Powerflex bushes for those rather than buying a whole new bracket but you'd have to check how pricing compares and also I'm wondering if it's one of those things where it'll be too harsh afterwards

I replaced the small bush on the transmission mount with a powerflex bush because it had more or less gone when I got the car - after a couple of days despite gear changes feeling more positive I ordered an after market mount because the noise and vibration it sent into the car (XC70 D5 auto)was unlivable.

I'm sure powerflex bushes have their place - but engine mounts for a D5 probably isn't it.

Poly engine mounts might be suitable for a performance petrol car , not so for a rattling old diesel engine like the D5

I ordered a transmission mount , from The bay just over 13 quid ، I know its not quality but it will do for now

Yeah that's what I meant about cost, if the powerflex (or other) replacement bush is cheaper than a 50-60 quid bracket that might be a preferred option, I think that's how much I paid for the volvo branded one I bought

Then again yeah probably not on a diesel
