I'll tell you why : because I have a mind of my own. Does that make me a heretic ? You freaking bet! Think I'll hunt me down a belt anchor for full dissection and mech mod.

It wouldn't really matter if Volvo wanted to allow you to turn it off or not. Euro NCAP have decreed that a seatbelt warning is worth several points so all manufacturers implement them (and presumably can't offer to disable them if they want the points). Just be glad the Volvo one shuts up at about 10mph, the old Mondeo ones went off continuously.

Mine continues until the belt's fastened - at any speed. My apologies to Volvo. And the poor design criticism now applies to NCAP. Who do these people think they are ? More freaking nanny-statedom .... GRRRR!

Right, I'm confused.
Wtf is annoying about the seat belt bong? Engine on, belt on, drive ? People who complain about it probably don't actually always wear a belt, do they. Or it's, "oh, I'm just going down to the shops, only a mile away." I really can't understand the logic behind this - it doesn't annoy me? Heck, my radio drowns out the noise of the sealt belt. Turn radio on maybe? Great mod that ![]() Please, enlighten me - how/why does it annoy you? |

The noise.
Not always a convenient order. Quote:
He just may not put it on for 30 sec.s while he drives off. Quote:
Who wants to be barked at by the radio every time they get in the car ? Maybe not ? I didn't buy a Volvo to bonged at for the brief interlude between driving off and belting up. Why do you feel the need to take such pains to tell everyone how much it doesn't annoy you ? Perhaps because you can't stand people expressing opinions that are different from yours - so you try to annoy them for being different from you. No. You tell me why TF it doesn't annoy you. WTF is wrong with you ? Jesus effing Christ on a bike already.

![]() It doesn't annoy me because I follow a simple routine, which has literally worked in all of my situations so far. Engine, belt, drive, which is also good practice, and, as far as I'm concerned, practiced by professional drivers ? The only instance I could agree with if it was some sort of a door-to-door delivery driver or similar.. (milk float/man person?) The fact is, you go to stupid lengths to turn a safety feature off, (at the same time, compromising others features) for no actual gain. A logical solution to this situation is to put the belt on when you start the vehicle. That takes one second, and enhances the safety of you and everyone around you. Yes, even your passengers. You have chose the most illogical fix, instead of a normal logical one, which quite frankly most people do. So tell me, my friend, why does this annoy you? What instances are inconvient for the simple proceedure described above? Are you in a specific driving profession to require such steps? In regards to the radio, but I find that my radio naturally drowns out the noise, and I just ignore the sound of the seatbelt beep on startup. Last edited by Danneh; Jul 21st, 2009 at 11:03. |

There's a much simpler way of disabling the seatbelt alarm whilst ensuring the SRS and pre-tensioner system still operates, get a belt extension. It's basically a short length of belt with a buckle on one end and a clip on the other end. These are, provided it's a correctly certified one, road legal and a car will pass an MOT with one installed.
I have one fitted to my car, have a look at ebay item 400062095378. |
