Totally agree with you - looks like my MY16 is now a collectors item as it has both 4C and the Inscription Pack. But I do like the addition of a T5 engine though only in FWD which is understandable due to the non-compatibility chassis issues between the new 4 cylinder engines v the current AWD drive system - Roll on MY18 and the new chassis and hopefully T6/T8 options. As a performance addict I also think Volvo have missed a trick with the T5. Surely many people buying the T5 are buying it for its performance so why on earth are all the new Polestar optimisation packs, body kits, etc available for the D4 but NOT the T5 - especially as 4C has disappeared. What jumped up marketing desk bound person made that call.......???

The Polestar webpage is useless btw. Seems to be very slow on updates. The T5 engine is available with a Polestar optimisation pack increasing it with 9 bhp only but with a whopping 50 Nm of torque!

Some manufacturers 'create' special editions in the run-out phase. What's the betting VUK don't bother to take the opportunity.

According to that price list there is no full leather option for the SE Lux. No 4C just self levelling which will be the Nivomats. However there are a number of Polestar options for the D4 FWD. Over £5k worth which includes a suspension upgrade.
Hard to understand why the SE Lux would be left out. Very sad to see the 4C go as it's such a useful and desirable option. Guess I won't be buying a new XC60 for a while if at all.

For what it's worth, I get the feeling Volvo are doing some model differentiation. Much like they ship loads of base level V40 R-Designs at the entry level on £259-a-month deals, I wonder whether they are positioning the XC60 as a mid-range model, hence removing the top-end accessories or specifications. For a fully loaded Volvo, they want you in an XC90 now. So luxury = XC90, mid-range = XC60, entry level is the 40 range. Previously with the XC90 being an ancient donkey the XC60 sort of inherited the top-range status since it looked more modern and was generally more advanced. With the new XC90, that's reverted to 'normal'. Just my own thoughts trying to make sense of why VUK would strip out the very top range options.... |

Good points here. It (sort of) follows the German tradition of offering the 'kitchen sink' on the X5, Q7, GLE but then progressively less toys as you drop down the ranges.
The problem for VUK is that (1) more options always seems to be available on the continent, and (2) they must be able to compete with the JLR offerings such as the F-Pace and the Disco Sport. For these, you can still option the 'kitchen sink'.

Completely agree with the flaws in their strategy (if that's what it is) - it's barmy, but about the only way I can make sense of what they appear to be doing...

...and it's not just down to various engine choices, 4C etc, but also the interior colours. For example, why can the UK not have a black roof liner if they so wish?! On the continent they can, to every interior colour on all models across the range (not sure about the V40).
I am sure a headliner has nothing to do if the car is a RHD or LHD model, but then again, I am not an automotive engineer so someone else have to answer that one. However, I feel that this is also a marketing decision from the UK side. Boring boring boring choices!
