More precisely the boost control valve, which may well explain the wastegate/dump valve noise that I hear on occasions when changing gear, usually just before I find the P0101 code and P1238 on the reader.

Hopefully if I replace the MAF, this will sort out both codes, if that's the case I shall be a happy bunny as will my car!

This would suggest so.

Well, final repair today, the old girl is getting a brand new MAF sensor which will (hopefully) cure all the remaining running problems! Thanks to Luxobarge, deathrider & Chris_Rogers for their help so far, your advice has been invaluable!

Well this is pants, new MAF sensor, same old codes P0101 and P1238, initially P0300 too. The old girl really doesn't like making things simple.

I think I'll have to commiserate myself with a beer or 2.

ell I did request the genuine Bosch part and Unipart (the main suppliers round here) are usually very good at getting it right. They also have a very good returns policy so it is going back tomorrow morning. Just have to get the old one (i know that one is genuine Bosch) and clean it up, see what that does.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps there is something wrong with the connections to the MAF rather than the sensor itself. However, that is a job for tomorrow, when I can see.

Just completed a nice long trip down to Lanarkshire it was a bit of a mixed bag of a journey really. Firstly, the car was trundling along quite nicely, until 20 miles into the trip, when she threw an ets fault and went into limp mode. A quick restart cured this. The drive was then perfect for the next 190 odd miles, until I got back into populated areas where, after the first few junctions, the hunting started again. P0101 & P1238 were the order of the day, again, clearing the codes improved matters somewhat however, allowing me to continue on.

The MAF is new (and Bosch) on idle (according to live data on torque) it reads 2.5 to 3.0 g/s when checked at the end of the journey, don't know if that is a factor.

P1238 Turbocharger (TC) control system flow Fault Flow too high. Permanent/Intermittent Fault

P0300 Misfire At least one cylinder

P0101 Intake air leakage Faulty signal

From these codes i would be looking for an air leak and i still wouldnt discount the ETM or Accelerator pedal being faulty
