hi. I think they are 12v so yes perhaps the shock was enough. I had to replace mine and was lucky i had some of the holders without bulbs (always pick up one or two if i'm in a scrapyard) so just put these in with standard 12v 1.2w bulbs and they look fine. The blue cover peels off easily and can be swopped to the new bulbs.

If you are careful you can hold the panel in place enough for it to make connection so you can test it out without having to push it fully home.

All the bulbs in my heater control facsia also failed, after I had to remove it.

They must be quite delicate but they had lasted about 7 years.

New bulbs easily obtained from Halfords.

There is at least one bulb out on my SC-805 and I'll be having a go at that sometime soon, thanks to the help on here.

So...

I got some replacement bulbs from Volvo for the heater controls and from an independant for the computer switch bulbs. (Would be interested to know how much the bulbs from Halfords were, didn't realise you could get them from there. The ones from Halfords were £2 each (the independant guy didn't have them otherwise I'd have bought them from there.)

I tested them last night with 12V and all the new ones worked, so guess it must have been the 'shock' that damaged them!

Will fit them tomorrow when I have a bit of time and hopefully that should be the end of it!

Ok so seen as this is the thread for bulb replacment etc i thought i'll ask my question here:

On an S40 2003, the bulbs behind the switches for the lights, fog light etc, to the right of the steering wheel. One how do i get the pannel off without damaging it, as tried today, and it seemed like it didnt want to come off. And secondly andyone know what bulbs are behind it?

Thanks

Default switch removal

remove the two screws situated at the bottom/underneath of the switch panel, and pull downwards.

I've just changed my bulbs and they now all work, so just to let you know that it was the 'shock' when they were remmved that damaged them! Although they muct have been nearly ready to go anyway seens as they were 8 years old!

Sorry, don't know about 2003 models but on my 98 there are two screws at the bottom of that panel (underneath). Once these are unscrewed the panel can be removed.

Yeah that's correct, and then it will just hang there on it's wire.
Once it's been off it comes off again a lot easier 2nd time round, if you see what I mean.
