An especial thanks for that warning. I am about to blade change a secondhand but trade quality circular saw.

By the way. bicycles are generally known as having some LH threads. For example on one pedal.

And on my cars I have twice suffered from a friend setting their ratchet handle incorrectly. The second time he lifted the car slightly up from the very fully adequate axle stand supports.
He is still allowed to assist providing a serious level of "Social Distancing" is observed. measured in Miles.

Bikes have a LH thread on the LH pedal axle and the RH bottom bracket cup.

Unlike on a car wheel (which doesn’t need to have an opposite thread at all) if you made the LH pedal a normal thread it would undo when you rode it due to the pressure on the pedal and the circular motion producing an anti-clockwise force on the pedal axle. Same goes with the RH bottom bracket cup.

I've had lots of fun removing pedals that have been on for years

Thanks for all the replies to this thread! I am waiting on some new bulbs in the post and I will put them in and no doubt everything will return to normal!

Aside from installing a new (used) radio and some new 13cm door speakers, I’m almost done working on the car for now.

Just thought I’d update people on what I’ve done with their help and advice on here since lockdown

Oil and filter change
3.5lts transmission fluid part change
Timing belt and aux belts changed
Wing mirror and wing replacement
New crank breather system
New radiator and coolant expansion tank
New coolant hoses
Retention roller blind
New water pump
New thermostat
New gas boot struts
New fuel pump/radio suppression relay
New ignition amplifier
New crank shaft position sensor
Compression test
New heater control valve
New oil cooler hoses
New coolant level sensor
New battery
Coolant flush and new coolant
Replaced old bent rusted rear impact absorbers that hold the rear bumper on with better condition used ones.

Thanks to all for the help! It’s been amazing. I’ve only done 200 miles on the car since I got her in March so now it’s time for some much needed driving!

Only thing Will hasn't changed yet on his 940.

Looks like all the usual suspects have been fixed - here's to a long lazy summer of cruising old skool!
