Looking at my XC90 and realising it was not going to challenge Hamilton in an F1 car I realised that paying out for tyres which cost more just for better handling in corners was probably not the best use of money. Anyhow I took a gamble on the Kumho's - they cost £50 each fully fitted.

Where did you get these tyres fitted, I cant seem to get them cheaper than £70.00?

Bought a set of 4 Nokian WR 235/60-R18 tyres from www.mytyres.co.uk for just less than £400 including delivery to UK.

Got ATS Euromaster to do the fitting (<£10 per tyre inc), but they got stuck on the front drivers side locking wheel nut. It fractured !! (Is this common?)

So Have new ones on the back and have booked the car into Volvo for them to sort out the defective locking wheel bolt under warranty. Volvo will fit the front tyres once they sort out the locking nut.

p.s. Only got 18,000 miles on fronts (2mm left). Rears still had about 4mm on them and I'm keeping them as spares.

If you are in the area send me a private message and I'll send you the number for them

Hi Genghis,

I have managed to find them: KP Tyres, 169, Chessington Rd, Epsom, Surrey KT19 9XE

I am originally from Bracknell so I know the Epsom area quite well :-) Just off the M3.

I will give them a call, thanks for your help.

That's the right address - The guy will remember me - I was the one who phoned up asking all sorts of questions and he asked me if I had been looking at forums - it was only a few months ago

If you go there (it's a very small family run outfit) then please say Hi to the owner from me and tell him I am very pleased with the tyres and ta for his advice!

This is interesting, as I would like to know what an Insurance Company's reaction would be, in the event of a claim, when they find the tyres fitted, are not recommended by Volvo?

I have checked and double checked and as far as I can see, the following are the only tyres recommended for the XC90:-

225/70 R16
235/65 R17 (Recommended on the Kumho web sit)
235/60 R18
255/50 R19

Unless someone knows different?

tem.
