All my new/replacement sensors have arrived.

Left to right, brake pressure sensor, AQS, brake pedal position sensor.

Fitted the position sensor last night. Didn't have a socket deep enough to get the pressure sensor off. Ran out of time to even look at the AQS.

Pedal sensor seems to have fixed the cruise control disabling errors so that's good.

Pressure sensor in. £7 for deep 27mm socket from Halfords. Spent 10 mins trying to do it without remove the engine support bar thingy. Eventually got frustrated and took it off and was done in about 30 seconds.

Vida calibration done.

Another year another easy MOT pass

No comments except one advisory to stop having children because no more child seats will fit in. Which is probably good advice in fairness

Hi - how much was the AQS - did you get it new from Volvo? I've tried a few from scrap cars but none have worked so far

Not fitted it yet. It's a new OEM VW one. They supposedly work with pre-facelift cars.

The other sensors are working well though. No warnings since doing them

Default Alternator Pulley Replacement

Had a nightmare with my V70 2002 with noise from my auxilliary belt. Replaced the power steering pump and tensioner but the noise only got worse. I know I should have checked ALL pulleys at first but I though I knew the origin of the noise! Clever cloggs!
Took the belt off and found the alternator pulley jammed and twisted out of itself some how. Ordered a new pulley and an extractor tool.
Extractor arrived 2pm yesterday so I removed the old pulley, fortunately no damage to the alternator shaft, installed the new pulley, tough getting the 80nm torque on it. Put the alternator back, replaced radiator top hose, replaced power steering pump, put cover back on the engine control box, refilled fluids and started it up in time to go bowling in the rain!
I can now hear the clock ticking again!!
Had to do it quickly in the rain as I didn't want to have to get my Austin Cambridge out in that horrible weather.

MOT booked for Thursday, I had a quick look round yesterday and spotted a split bottom ball joint boot on the n/s/f. Disappointingly I changed them both a couple of years ago and they've only done a couple of thousand miles.

I ordered online from ECP, the nearest stock was 15 miles away so set off. I started the hub/stub axle removal and had it in the vice in 30 minutes. I removed the ball joint, un-packed the new one to be greeted with a ball joint too big for the knuckle. A phone call to the branch resulted in a chat with a call centre. The response being "It's been picked wrong", no apologies, I say "I can set off now if they have stock" His reply was "yes they have stock, can you get there by three"?

No chance, so I went this morning. Again no apologies, they produce the ball joint which is exactly the same as the returned item. He does a search by car rather than registration and produces a replacement. Brilliant thinks me.

"That'll be another £35 please" says ECP man!

"What"? says me.

It seems they don't stock the mid price variant, only the premium.

On the upside I made a tool to the hold down the lower arm, the car is poly bushed so the arms are reluctant to move.

I'd started the job on the drive in sunshine, of course it started raining as soon as I refitting everything. With my wonder tool rebuilding only took half an hour.

So there's that.

I stopped buying from ECP many years ago after they gave me incorrect part on several occasions

What was this tool you made? This is not an un common issue with these cars.
Any info on the tool greatly received.
